it seems we've had the same thought. I've just backed my thread up with facts ;)

Why have no lessons been learned from last weeks disaster?

You talking about the avalanche in Italy I assume? Or do you mean the hiccup in the Black Country?

I tell you what...I don't disagree that Wright would have done a better job than that great lummox that we've made into some sort of cult hero - but when I see threads like this, going over the top about the inclusion of a 34 year old bloke who'd been released by league newcomers, Oxford United, because he was thought to be past his sell by date, it also disappoints me.

For heaven's sake - if we need a centre half we should go out and get one. A good one. We can't keep turning to old blokes like Jake Wright and screaming for their inclusion, like they are some kind of super-hero. The sad facts are...EEL is dodgy, O' Connell I think, is the best centre half at the club, but he's not playing in a centre half position in a back 3 - he's playing left back most of the time. And Basham...well, he's not a centre half is he? and he's playing at right back in any case.

What is it about us and centre halves of late? We always used to have good ones. Very good ones in fact, none finer than the bloke who's statue is in the car park, Joe Shaw. But also players like Colquhon, Stancliffe and Morgan.

We should go out and get Webster from Millwall and play him alongside O'Connell in the centre of defence and revert to a back 4 imo.

I'm not sure where you've got the idea that he's 34 from, he's only 30. Unless you're just exaggerating for the sake of it.

Couldnt agree more about and the need to get a good right sided cenr half in to play along side him in a flat back four then if you need to shoehorn bash into team put him at rb , eel turnin into a defensive disaster thats gunna get worse

Not knocking Basham at all but Wright is far superior at CB and the stats speak for themselves. The defence looks so much more organised and calm when Wrights there. When the long throw ins came in yesterday I was bobbing it, wouldn't have been the case if Wright was there. Begging he starts Tuesday.

So he's gone from 37 to 34 after being told twice that he is in fact 30! Maybe if I tell you he's 25 a couple of times you'll knock him down to 30?

Here you go, I'll post his wikipedia page this time, just click on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Wright

It says he was born in 1986. It is now 2017. The difference between 1986 and 2017 is 31. This means that Wright is in his 31st year.

I'd bring in James Wilson too on Tuesday & go with:

Freeman - Wilson Wright O'Connell - Lafferty (or Riley)

Just to try & steady the ship. Won't harm EEL and Basham to have a rest for a while - it's a squad game, & it's a long season.

Wright should be in the centre of the three with O'Connell on the left and EEL (or Bash on the right). A bit harsh on Bash as I can't say he's been playing badly at all. Quite the opposite but sometimes it's about balance and order - not just the best performers. EEL get the nod from me as he's a goal scoring threat - whereas Bash just isn't.

Bash is not a midfielder btw.
I've said that for the last 3 years.
He hasn't got the ball control, passing or ghosting into the box at the right time ability. He's a solid defender, strong and committed.

Wilson for EEL wouldn't be a bad idea actually. EEL's out of form, Wilson will be itching to play and prove a point and we'd retain height in the team which we don't if it's Basham/Wright replacing EEL. I'd want Wright in the team with Wilson though so maybe that would mean dropping Basham too. But I don't think Wilson would be any worse in the middle of the 3 than EEL either.

I agree his organisation does seem to be missing in that defence.

EEL and Jack certainly need some direction.

Massively miss this guys calming influence at centre half . Think he commands respect from the others and certainly is the glue that holds the defence together . Get him back asap !
or get thi wallett out mcabe back our manager and get a decent centre back in

Totally agree!
And maybe a striker or atleast someone who can score!!

Expected him to start tonight. Will be even more surprised if he doesn't in our next game.

11 days to come up with a plan that works again now.

We've been saying that for weeks.

Jay O Shea to start over Duffy for me as well. Let's stop rewarding poor form.

More or less this. Thank god we've got time to work it out

He would hopefully stop the individual mistakes happening, by talking the young uns through the game.
