If he's offered a contract by Utd it would almost be as big a surprise as him being offered a trial by Roma. It's been a long time since he played at the top level and he's hardly pulled up any trees in the time since.

However, as others have said, there is no harm in Utd taking a look and allowing the player to get/keep fit. If he does well and impresses CWAK I'd have no issue if he's offered terms - it didn't do DMcG's career any harm when he did similar.

I must admit though, perhaps he is another player that was given too much, too soon and it contributed to him not filling his potential. Jerome Sinclair, Micah Richards, Scott Sinclair - all seemingly fell into the same trap.

Wilder will have Rodwell back in that England side* quicker than you can say England side.

Maybe.*

So If the delivery guy tries to deliver a parcel and the house is empty. He goes across the road and says can you sign for this parcel but not look at the address because I'm not supposed to tell anybody who I'm delivering to?
If they’re not the addressee then why are they signing for it?

Bit harsh on Micah Richards ,always struck me as a dedicated pro who just got unlucky with injuries

How did he know they were football boots? Did the big mouthed bastard open them as well? Might have been Lego.

Even the ones referred to in this article?

If they don't know that he was injured pretty much all the time he was there and then had to retire because of it ,that's their problem

Even if he gets himself fit and in the right frame of mind, Jack Rodwell will have a helluva tough job breaking into the first team scene with the likes of Ravel Morrison standing in his way.

Don't think Ravel is his direct competition and from what i've heard Morrison has been nothing but hard working and a positive influence on the dressing room. But hey keep fitting him to a narrative.

Yeah yeah, you betcha I will. Maybe one day he’ll be a positive influence on the pitch as well? I’ll then be able to find a new narrative to fit him to and you can slag him off and look for a replacement.

Hopefully, from what I’ve heard they’ve been working with him tactically but he’s been struggling with it. He’s twice the player of anyone else we’ve got in midfield we just can’t afford to have anyone who isn’t exceptionally disciplined in there

I don’t get what happened, Rodwell seemed to be doing well at Blackburn. How come he’s without a club?
Has he priced himself out of a deal anywhere?

but my concern would be us looking at a player who’s not been playing competitively for over 6 months. And given our system requires learning he’d be unlikely to be a player to strengthen us this season.
So I wonder what we are looking at him for....maybe a project for next season?? Squad filler if he will take a deal which is on the low side for the premier league?
A punt...hoping we get for nothing the player he could have become had he not left Everton?

Offer him £5k per week, when he argues tell him that he earned £70k a week for doing bugger all at Sunderland for 4 years so he owes the game of football some money back and he may as well do it for Chris Wilder, the saviour of football.
