Amazed he has stepped back down to L1. Thought we might have a look at him. Brooks' emergence probably ended any chances.

I think that Sammy will start most games - he is way more robust than Duffy. Hopefully, Brooks will play more and more - eventually I would like to see Brooks and Carruthers in tandem behind a single striker - Sam Gallagher would be very nice to share and then take over from Billy.

To be fair I don't think we need any midfielders. Even without the emergence of Brooks I felt we didn't need Ricky Holmes. I'm glad he didn't sign.

I expected Carruthers would gradually start to occupy a first team berth more regularly this season. He's the type of player that could flourish at the next level.
 
Udders player on loan at Oxford I think. Rumour is we're in for him.

He scored the second against us for Southend in a 2-2 draw under Adkins. Would be a decent signing. He has some pace from memory.
 

He's done well for Oxford and we could do a lot worse. However he wouldnt be cheap and if we can't find enough money to tempt a third tier club to sell us a player who has 6 months of his contract left we are clearly operating with a tiny transfer budget.

Its generally easier to buy a player who isn't wanted than one who is, but I take your point.

What's budget got to do with it? Wilder will only pay what he thinks the players worth.

He’s on loan from Huddersfield I believe, so I think it could be a goer
 
Popular at Oxford and has done well for them this season. Quick feet, creative and scores a few - would be decent cover for Duffy. Maybe Hudders are offering him instead of Lolley.

he scored their third in the 3-1 loss to them later in the season as well

You seriously believe that ? We are desperate for midfielders and have been after this boy for months. Are you telling me if we had the spending power of a Wolves or Villa we'd still be p1ssing around trying to sign him with Coutts out for the season and the Premiership beckoning?

We definitely would not be p1ssing about trying to sign him if we had more money, just another reason why not though.

That's my point Sheffielder , in my opinion us not having signed Leonard yet has little to do with Wilders valuation of him and everything to do with how much money he's got to spend.

Maybe I just need to learn to accept we havent' got a pot to piss in and our budget is what it is !

Mate...I hope you're wrong in so much as, we are surely not looking for "cover" - we are looking for players who are better than the ones we've got and can replace them.

I thought CW was trying to improve the overall group. Payne would probably do that but certainly wouldn't be an immediate improvement on Duffy from what I've seen of him
