Jack O'Connell

JO'C started well at Bolton but he had a shocker against Southend if I recall correctly? Granted, most did but he was directly responsible for two of their early goals. After that, he was dropped for Jake Wright and he has had to be patient. However, since he got back in, he's been excellent and has cut out those early errors. He has all the attributes to step up and be a very good Championship central defender - strong, good in the air, a good passer and has ability to come out of the back three with the ball. Agree with some of the comparisons with Maguire; both look a threat at set plays too. Interesting to see how O'Connell develops positionally - particularly if/when Wilder returns to a back four - but I think he's a good signing.

Sometimes I don't think he gets the praise he deserves. He's got a terrific range of passing, he positively attacks the ball and (most importantly) he stands the attackers up well and never looks like he's going to get beat.

I thought he was excellent again today and hopefully there is more to come from him.

He was one of the summer signings I was most excited about. Young, been captain of Rochdale despite being on loan, big, strong unit. Looks a good defender who should improve with age.

Playing in a back 3 also seems to suit him as he can go and attack balls without worrying too much about what’s going on behind him. Also looks a decent threat at set pieces and been unlucky not to notch more than he has.

Still a little bit to learn in terms of concentration and positioning to be entirely reliable in a back 4 but exactly the sort of signing that we should be making. Already a good league 1 player with the potential to be a good championship player.

Glad he's getting praise. He's quietly got better and better since he came back into the team. On boxing day he , alongside Billy for obvious reasons, was my stand out player .

Seems to be back slapping any congrats all the way round, which is better than the opposite and it's great that all the team are getting praised not pelted.

Duffy never looks stressed on the ball, just gets better and better, his game includes walking away from the ball nonchalently which must confuse and unsettle opposition players, he's great to watch. Ebanks-Landell put some good passes in on Monday, must have been working on it, Moore produces the goods when asked, must be hard to concentrate against teams like Bury who offer nothing in attack

Oneof the comments I overheard on Monday at half time " shall we go back to the boozer", bunch in front of me left their seats to stand in the ailles for the second half.
Bloke who came with me first match since Arsenal 2008 1-0 Nade.
All welcome though apart from the doughnut who wanted to "go back to the boozer"
