I think it is.

And here's why...

https://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.u...their-own-name-on-official-calendar-1-8901712

For Evan's sake!

Who on hearth is risponsible for this borlz up?

It reminds me of the thyme I bought a car sticker from the club shop and it had "Shefield United" on it.

The irony of it is that the story is reported by Johnston Press, an organisation who regularly turn out sub-standard work.

But, come on United! Do not sink to those levels!

Does this website get regular payments from the star for all the stories it thieves.

Appears on S24SU, couple of hours pass, Star reports it.

Yes, it does matter.......but.......for anyone challenged by the intricacies of the English language, it can sometimes offer walls that they struggle to overcome.

Generally what I value is intent, so if someone can't spell or punctuate correctly, yet I can see where they're going with their message, that'll do for me.

Anyone who gets on their high horse about this particular skill, remind them that the esteemed newspaper, The Grauniad, never fails to remind us that even the good and the worthy fuck up when it comes to mastery of their native tongue.

It's not about spelling per se. It's about some fuckwit who was supposed to proof it and couldn't be arsed.

Proof-reading is a difficult skill, and used to be done by professionals. In these days of spell-check and the like, does the profession still exist?
I would rather read a good post on here badly spelt than a rubbish post in perfect English. And the two together are just preferable.

Maybe, but it's a calendar not a text book and "Shefield" is in big letters.

YES!
I hate to see misspelling of any sort and I particularly hate text speak!!!

It's the words you know well that are difficult to proofread - you see what you expect to see rather than what is there. Very much a part of human nature, I think.

Definitely. Fell foul of that more than once! :)

All complaints should go to Grange Communications who have produced this under licence from the club.

I doubt the club had any proof reading responsibility.

Shakespeare spelt his name many different ways. His hand written scripts are good examples of shite spelling. Some General in Victorian times wrote a daily diary for a newspaper. He wrote in one dispatch, that a person who couldn't spell was stupid, (words to that effect). From that day it became increasingly important. For me, if meaning is not lost, then it doesn't matter. As for punctuation, I was taught never to put a comma before and, or a preposition. Most Victorian novels have commas before and, it's creeping back in to everyday usage. Again, if meaning is lost or confused by bad punctuation, then it is wrong. If not, then IMO, who cares.

I imagine there were more than a few spare F's flying round the office when this was discovered.

Don't worry mate, you're sure to find an error in one of my posts, especially if I'm tired or have taken one of my morphine tablets! I try to pay attention, but it's not always possible, which I hope explains why I don't worry a great deal about the variety of posts. Of course it helps if something is written with attention to spelling and punctuation, but it's not the end of the world if there are mistakes.

It's the side that faces the fucking wall.

I'll be highly surprised if it affects sales.

Who gives a toss? I think it's quite funny!

Damn your eyes Itsinyer!!!!!

Why didn't you fall into my carefully laid trap of putting 'of' instead of 'have'!!!!!!!........and thus robbing me of being able to reply by putting a picture of a small boy catching a large fish!!!!......

I sometimes administer something akin to a papal blessing for the deserving ;) of which you are clearly deserving.

Strong words there bromtom, assuming you have a raft of examples to back it up? No rush.

A what?

I can't navigate this website well enough. I was perhaps a little unfair because it's not just the star but you have to admit it's a little bit odd that a post turned up on this website yesterday and today it's in the local papers even though the calendar has been on sale for at least a month I'd say.

News has to come from somewhere, just hope they put a quid in the server costs jar.

There's a post about the shareholders meeting just gone up on here about Wilder looking for 4 players in January and letting some go. Will be interesting to see if they have a different source in the local press in a few hours.

It came from Twitter. The story literally says that, and the tweet is even embedded. I know the writer and, unbelievably for a non-football fan, she doesn’t regularly trawl S2. Amazing, I know.

Oh for regular contact with Chris Wilder, eh? :D and when it doesn’t, I assume you’ll acknowledge that?
