I have slowly lost confidence in our management team over the course of the season and the article on the OS of 'little but not often' has pushed me over the edge! 6 days prior to the biggest game of our season and our man-management has let us down again. To me its a simple way of having a dig at glen little saying hes only playing well because he wants a new contract!! not only do i believe this to be absolute tosh, but he has done it before the derby match and therefore, why should give a toss how well he plays at the weekend. He's simply been told hes a good player but he wont be here next year, Blackwell and Ellis are the 2 biggest wankers i know and are destroying my club. Get out now, and get someone in who can actualy make players feel good for a change. Rant over.

Because he should be proving he's good enough, fit enough and hungry enough to deserve a deal here or elsewhere next year.

Even if he is annoyed by Ellis' comments, then he should be wanting to throw them back in his face.

Why would he say it just be be a "wanker"? He's out of contract at the end of the season anyway, so if he isn't wanted then he'd be off.

In my mind, it's a comment designed to get Glen to prove he's worth the money next year.

well, that may be your interpretation foxy. for me, if my boss said to me tomorrow, 'youre doing a good job, but your going to get sacked mext week.' Why would I put in extra effort?

He didn't say that though did he? He just said that he looks like he's playing for a contract, has been better and it would have been a bit different if he'd started doing that earlier (i.e - he might have already got a contract).

They'll have talked to Little away from Radio Sheffield, but to me (and I could be way off the mark) it sounded like a "force us to offer you something Glen".

Else why else would he say it?

"It seems to me he is trying his hardest to get another contract, and obviously he wants to extend his career, but if he had done that 20 games ago we might have been in a different position now."

I appreciate this can be taken two ways foxy, and maybe you're right. I obviously read it differently and that it suggests it is too late for him to save his chances of an extended contract.

Indeed, but having "not been given a chance" all season, and it being deemed as "too late" why would he and not Yeates have been playing in the last few weeks?

Doesn't make sense to me to have completely written off any chance of him earning a deal, nor broadcasting the fact on local radio.

His comments were toe-curling.
I must have missed all these chances he had earlier in the season because every time I've seen him play he looks the most comfortable and accomplished United player on the pitch.
No co-incidence we lost control once he went off on Saturday.
I'd rather give Little another year than Ellis.

interesting comments.

in terms of earlier "opportunities" he's had a total of 322 minutes in installments up until january out of a possible 2250 minutes of league and cup games. He wasn't even given a sniff in the period where we had injuries left right and centre in November.

Since then he's been a bit more involved getting 331 minutes out of a possible 1980 minutes of league and cup football.

I'm a bit confused as to how he managed to play 84 minutes against Barnsley - surely this is pretty close to the 90 minutes Ellis says he just can't manage - I'm sure he could have coped with the last 6 minutes if it wasn't for us wanting to bring Williamson back in slowly.

Also if he can't manage 2/3 games in a week as Ellis says then I'm surprised to see how he managed to be involved in games on the 3rd April, 5th April and again on the 10th playing 176 minutes in 3 games in a week, just after being involved on the 20th March, 24th March and 28th March, again 3 games in 8 days making a total of 6 games in three weeks. Indeed in those last 6 games he's played the same 322 minutes that he managed in the first 7 months of the season.

In terms of the comments about the fans taking to him yes they have because he's shown in the last 6 matches that he has ability and intelligence that we have been crying out for over the last few months making me personally really confused as to why we haven't seen more of him even if it was spread out in terms of 30 mins every home game if they believe he can only play well at home (which I disagree with).

I just think Ellis and Blackwell are either wrong or imbeciles to continually make statements such as this. Pick whichever one you prefer. Given he's shown he can be involved in three games a week over the last month then it amazes me that they try and argue otherwise.

Let's systematically pick someone else to piss off from week to week, lets try and demean the intelligence of our fans again from week to week, lets pass more blame away from our corner from week to week. It's bullshit and they should grow some balls and perhaps use this week to inspire not demoralise/aggravate. Once again this is a chap that they have signed and that has earnt good money from us in his time here to play nearly as much football as I've managed in the last year and I'm a slob. I like little but it pisses me off that Blackwell has the audacity to complain about not having money/funds/a suitable wage budget to hire people that would make a difference or keep players like Monty who is an institution whilst failing to see that last summers quality over quantity speech was as nonsense as his need to get in 17 loan players this year (I make it 14 but I'll allow him another made up stat).

More interestingly the article appears to have been pulled as I write this and is not longer on the OS - I was going to post the text for those who hadn't read it yet. Is it just being edited or is this because someone has actually realised what a load of bullshit it is? I only wish they'd now stop any more interviews/media comments being released from these truth bending bastards until they are in a position to make a statement saying farewell, adios and goodbye.

now that's a rant blader - must try harder :-)

Fantastic rant Blade, i bow to you. spot on with everything youve said and you have written everything i meant, but with extreme improvement! another question, do you think he will play on sunday considering 'he plays better at home'?

100% spot on - especially the bit about demeaning the intelligence of the fans.

 :easy: - Blade

I also remain unconvinced that Ellis has the intellectual capacity to use psychology on players, he's strikes me as a Ill say what I say and you can like it or lump it man.

Have to say, if Toot and Ploot were half as good at identifying players who ARE good enough for us as ones they think arent we'd have got 100 points this season. Two words though "Chedwyn" and "Evans"
