Gentlemen, we have our first member in the hall of fame that is ITKers who don't know what the feck they are talking about. I give you marsh blade

I have it on good authority what the outcome of this poll will be, but I've been sworn to secrecy.

I get the frustration and apathy towards ITKs. Some of the guys trail social and endeavour to make 2+2=5 but some genuinely hear snippets and out of eagerness and enthusiasm want to share. Sure, they want the adulation too. Football changes so quickly though.

United have tightened up, rightly or wrongly, but I'm much pleased it's the former and Chapman was a surprise. No one had an inkling in internet land. Fantastic.

In recent times manager sackings and hirings, signings such as Brayford, Edgar, departures such as Murphy and Baxter (the day after his altercation), plus the 'shall we, shan't we' with Ched have been far too relaxed. And wrongly so.

I only post when I 100% know. Clarke was nailed on, Adams was always likely to Brum because Newcastle was hot air and Wilder didn't rate. The Morsy speculation, I've just never heard an inkling despite so many indicating otherwise. I hope it's true and fair play to those guys who wish to risk their reputations on saying so.

But they're relying on a source of a source inside plus the moving lottery of clubs changing their minds with targets daily. I wouldn't criticise guys like Marsh and Mike Stephenson though as they are showing more humility.

Why do you assume it’s pretence? Many of the signings come from our level or higher so many will have been seen by the majority of blades fans. So long as said fans can acknowledge that the (usually between) 1-5 times they’ve seen said player doesn’t qualify them to say with certainty they are great or shit then I think it’s fair enough.

Chapman for example. I’ve seen very little of. Seen him score a good goal on highlights and read a bit about him.

But we’ve all seen Jack O Connell, James Wilson, Robert Fleck, Mark Duffy, Leon Clarke etc. before at least once or twice because they’ve played against us.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’d never seen McNulty, Scougall or Higdon in a full game before they signed.

Some of those signings, such a Fleck, we will have all seen, because he's been around a while, played a lot of games at this level and we've been linked previously.

What bugs me is when someone like Harpham sign and dozens of people on social media who are Blades fans seem to have a view on him. If you had that level of knowledge on players of that amount of experience you would be a pro scout. Granted, the odd person will have seen a bit of him, but come on, most people's reaction would be "who is that?"

Even Barnsley fans say he played fleetingly!

I think a lot know who he is because when he signed for Barnsley last season, there was plenty of "why didn't we sign him" going on. I suspect many will have seen the goal he scored when he joined Barnsley as it would have been on the football league show and further fueled the "why didn't we sign him" arguments. I agree the vast majority will have seen very little of him but people jump to judgements on players or at least offer some sort of opinion even if they've only seen a little or in some cases only read reports/ studied youtube clips of them.

Brandon Barker is an example for me. Never seen the lad play a full game but I've seen snippets on youtube and read good things about him. It's not enough to cast a solid judgement but it's enough to feel optimistic if we signed him.

The execution of Robert-Francois Damiens has some a really cool, if a tad gruesome, punishment for such people ;)

He tried to kill Louis XV, king of France, but failed.

"On 1 March 1757 Damiens, the regicide, was condemned to make the amende honorable before the main door of the Church of Paris, where he was to be taken and conveyed in a cart, wearing nothing but a shirt, holding a torch of burning wax weighing two pounds.

Then, in the said cart, taken to the to the Place de Greve, where, on a scaffold erected there, the flesh torn from his breasts, arms, thighs and claves (?) with red-hot pincers, his right hand, holding the knife with which he committed the said parricide, burnt with sulphur, and, on those places where the flesh was torn away, poured molten lead, boiling oil, burning resin, wax and sulphur melted together.

Then his body was drawn and quartered by four horses and his limbs and body consumed by fire, reduced to ashes and his ashes thrown to the winds (Pisces originales, 372-4).

Finally, he was quartered, recounts the Gazette d'Amsterdam of 1 April 1757."

This last operation was very long, because the horses used were not accustomed to drawing; consequently, instead of four, six were needed; and when that did not suffice, they were forced, in order to cut off the wretch's thighs, to sever the sinews and hack at the joints.

:D

I recall Coffie scoring a scorcher against Rovverum and everyone thinking we had a gem, mmmmmm we all know how that turned out.

Just goes to show there's no guarantees with these kids. They can have all the tekkers in the world but some just can't play the mens game.
