ITK - Robinson Imminent

I can't see Southgate coming when he's got a cushty job at ITV. Can't see us paying him more than he's getting there.

God help us if Southgate gets the job. Mark my words, we will end up in Division Four. I can't believe he could be considered as a candidate. Fuck it, why not bring back Adrian Heath?

If its Southgate I'm going to enjoy some protests. Won't be going to the lane I don't think.

Does McCabe think we are stupid? Choosing a pathetic manager who's a terrible pundit and didn't do much as a player either.

Shocking

Coyle would be my first choice, Robinson second, Davis third, I'd consider Southgate after that.

I like what he has to say about the game, and he's done some good work at the FA with the youth development.
I'd be more disappointed with Morgan or McCall than Southgate.

I'm with Bob in that I don't think Southgate would be a disaster... although, I do think McCall would be better.

For me, in terms of rumored appointments (and I don't count Coyle among them), I'd go:
1) Robinson
2) McCall
3) Southgate
4) Slade
5) Wilder
6) Arnold
7) Morgan

Totally agree in order of top 3. I don't think I would want to go any lower. I think people are being a bit harsh on Southgate myself and although I wouldn't be excited I think he would do a good job

Agree, would be fairly happy with any of the top three, but really wouldn't want any of the others.

Warnock has 7 promotions to his name and you criticise people for wanting him - I have a modicum of sympathy, if only because of the "don't go back" angle.

Gareth Southgate has a 29% win rate and one relegation to his name. For the life of me I can't see why crticising this would be seen as harsh.,

Please can you tell me where I have been critical on people wanting Warnock. I wouldn't be against it, however it just won't happen.

This win percentage is a load of shite really imo. Apart from about 8 games (where his team were 4th in the champ), all of Southgates management career has been in the Premier league yet people seem to cream themselves over Wilson's 47% and no promotions. So is 47% for Wilson in league 1 better than 29% for Southgate in the Premier?

Put this win percentage shite to bed

Isn't most fans issue with not wanting Warnock based on his style of play not results.

I'm sure you've highlighted this previously Alco.

No Wilson is a poor manager too. I have perhaps mistakenly grouped you with other posters who haved. If so, sorry.

And I will continue to do so whilst ever we promote a notion that we'd rather have a manager with one relegation to his name, and nothing else, over a man with 7 promotions.

Good luck to the 1,500 fans who will follow the pretty football as we plummet through the leagues. History shows that almost twice as many people watched Warnock's premiership team compared to Wilson's free flowing team of they year before last.

From someone on an MK board regarding Robinson...

Deal half done just compensation for the club to be worked out thanks for the memory's Robbo.

Closer... yet somehow much further away :D

Sorry, not got it now. Think it was on concrete roundabout.

Warnocks Premiership team compared to Wilsons third tier team would be a fairer comment.
Yet another way would be that history shows 13, 718 watched Warnocks team in his 2nd season with his team in the Championship, far less than watch Dannys free flowing football.

I hope it is Robinson,i`ll feel a little more enthiusiastic under his tenure than that of Morgan.
Lets hope Mcabe backs the bloke preseason and gives him the freedom to bolster the squad and ditch the dead wood.
IF it comes off.

Looking at when this thread was started and its title, Robinson must have been on the vinegar strokes for about a week now...

Doesn't make sense to me, after a disappointing season, Robinson was alledgedly due to have a clearout of his backroom staff. Unless of course he was clearing them out prior to re-employing them elsewhere ;)

It would, and it would entirely back up the point I am making. People watch winning football. The rest is fluff. Wilson's free flowing football of the modern age has failed 12 times to escape England’s third division. Warnock's dinosaur football that doesn’t work anymore took us to the premiership (along with 6 other promotions) and 30,000 people turned up to watch.

I don't want Warnock back, but I will continue to reiterate that the idea that the masses want free flowing football, and it being a guarantee of success, is a complete fallacy.

UTB

Sorry I didn't realise that was the point you were making.
I would agree that free flowing football isn't a guarantee of success however it is necessarily to develop technically good young players from the academy into our first team. Otherwise we may as well just close the academy and spend the money on transfers/wages.

Isn't most fans issue with not wanting Warnock based on his style of play not results.

What if the style of play was similar to Warnock's Blades team in 2002-2003? Or Warnock's QPR team?
Would people be happy to have Warnock back then?

I think Warnock's style of play was perfect for our supporters expectations, budget limitations and chances of success.

I still wouldn't want him back in any capacity.

Otherwise we may as well just close the academy and spend the money on transfers/wages.

And given that we don't seem to be able sustain outselves with 20,000 turning up, we should be asking ourlselves that question, amongst many others about our overheads.

The most exciting finds last season were Blackman and Miller.
