It wasn't just Clarke

I don't think we'll see eye to eye on this. I thought the crowd started well, were a little subdued after the goal (just like all football fans are) and were magnificent from then on.

I think our support is great, with the kop being integral.

A lot depends on where you are I suppose. As I said, I'm perfectly placed to comment and there was barely a single convincing chant in the first half after the GCB.

I don't think our support is bad but I want it to be better, I want it to reflect our current team in what is a uniquely brilliant time for us.

Ricky isn’t saying anything controversial, our crowd WAS quiet in the first half, probably because we were quite sloppy and they were on the front foot for a decent portion of it.

That possibly played it's part but I said before kick off the crowd didn't seem up for it. Maybe that lengthy silence pre KO played a part.

I feel like I was at a different game to most. After about an hour I said the rests Duffy and Fleck had in the week haven’t helped at all. Bash was woeful first half and CCV did little to support him further up the pitch. Generally for the first hour everyone seemed to either be slightly out with their passing - long, short, wrong angle - or just making poor decisions. Good decision making has been key to our success and it was missing for far too long today, particularly with Coutts who kept trying to run with the ball at the wrong times and gave the ball away before their goal.

But the work rate of the front two was there as usual. Billy did well and supplied a peach of a cross for the third (I’d shouted “Yes! Yes!” while it was in the air before it reached Leon as I was so convinced it was the hat trick goal). Leon was equally wasteful and unlucky before the first goal, but then everything turned to gold. Outstanding performance from him, winning the ball, hassling defenders, great link up play and some delightful touches (laying it off before racing through for his second, and taking three players out to feed Stevens into the box), deserved more than four goals!

Last 15 minutes we looked like the team that should have been out of sight by half time in most home games, but before that we didn’t control the ball as well as usual and several players were below the standards they have set individually and collectively. Fortunately those standards are so high that our level doesn’t really drop below that of the opposition.

I personally think that one or two weren’t at their best in the first half, even the holy midfield trinity weren’t quite at it, but that all changed in the second half.

But I thought Clarke was immense throughout, always a danger yer still working his balls of for the cause. The other player who deserves a mention is Wright, coming in and carrying on from where he left off, talking and organising. His positional sense was again superb and what about THAT tackle?

I've spent the last ten years going round the ground and when we're talking about the noise it's always the kops responsibility, the point is it shouldn't be, there are three other stands (now) who can help out with the atmosphere, the kop have been noisy all season (Barnsley was quiet for a bit) if you sit on here then you can have an opinion in my book, but I've sat on all the other stands and it's been very quiet, so sing up with us or shut up about the kop, we will only hear the other stands make anywhere the same noise when that lot turn up in January, and only if we're winning...

I hope we sang loud enough today so all the quiet ones had a great atmosphere to enjoy....

Coutts was dominant second half after an average first. Duffy excellent throughout. Great team performance second half. Clarke inspired.

Like Tyler though, I am angry at Billy not getting a mention :)

I think the crowd reflected the team in the first half mate, not that bad but not at its best, the GCB was sang a loud as it ever has been around us. But overall it was not quite at it till the second a bit like team.

I thought we missed Baldock, bash is ok but we look more dangerous with Baldock or Freeman, I also thought Stevens had a quiter game going forward, dont think either of them were poor but our wingbacks today just weren't as good as usual, also, and I haven't read anybody mention it but as good a strike as it was Moore should have easily have dealt with the goal, it swerved a bit but he really shouldn't have let it in, I am sat right behind so I had a perfect view.

Billy was first class today. As was Duffy.

I was on the kop, first half was OK.

Second half I think we really did get behind em. They started well and the kop responded.

I fucking love it second half when we really need a goal and the team are going for it, attacking the kop end, sucking the ball in, as they say. Roaring the team on.

We're on the march!

Sounded to me like the fans really roared the team on at 0-1 but I'm just sat at home with only the sounds of the game for company

Thought we were out of sorts for much of the 1st half - missing Freeman/Baldock/specialist wing-back and also missing Bash in his usual role - bit of a "double-whammy". They had some pacey looking lads up front and they pressed us effectively, making us a tad apprehensive about doing our usual pushing forward from the back/carrying the ball and too often resorted to lumping it resulting in losing possession. Also some of our passing wasn't quite as neat and tidy, and too often players in possession lacked close support. Having said that we still created enough chances to have gone in 2 or 3-1 up at half-time which speaks volumes for how good we are. At half-time I was wondering how Wilder could change it - subs-wise or even formation switching. I would have settled for a point, and said fair enough.... we had to draw sometime, but feared it might not be our day and suffer 2nd home defeat. Oh me of little faith!!
2nd half smacked me across the face/shook me from my negativity. It reminded me that this team can get back to business as usual pretty smartly..... none of this "we might be suffering a spell of below-par form that all teams go through" .... nope.... not yet.... we're back nipping at the Wolves' arse-end.
Anyhow - why should I change my mind from how I felt at the end of last season? Back-to-Back-to-Back promotions is Wilder's aim, and I'm with him...... we're going up (again).

I thought it was oddly quiet pre match.
In first half the very quiet hull fans were heard beneath Bramall Lane upper, singing is this a library?
Sounded like about twenty people. Could hear it back row of BLUT

What was it like up there today? Any chants get going in the second half?

then you should know their lad hit it into the ground and it had vicious top spin on it.. basically it was a fluke

The best midfield outside the premier league.....we know this already but to have it endorsed by TC is rather special

I thought Stevens was average today, quite sloppy at times.

Can't remember O'Connell doing much wrong at all and he got forward well. Should've scored though, like at QPR.

Also thought CCV was tidy and solid. He set up the first goal didn't he? That was a classic attack for us and a feather in the cap for the way we play.

My dad sat up there and his voice has completely gone when I've just called up to see him.
He's not particularly a "clapper" and he said the atmosphere was great up there today.

You made me laugh on here at half time losing your shit.
I even txt a mate on the kop saying "Lad on S2 says your support has been shit, sing up Shoreham!"

I thought Billy was superb throughout today! A real captains performance.
UTB!
Playing well and as other people have stepped up he doesn't need to carry the entire team - like he did previously under Adkins and after on a few occasions. I'm hoping this new slightly less pressurised role might extend his career a year or two.

Baldock is a tremendous addition for us , game though Bash is, RB clearly isn't his best position. We did lack balance , certainly first half.

Fleck was different class. I always say that but it's true, he's the one player I'd hate to lose, above all the rest. He's the real deal. Him and Brooksy.
And Jack.

Fucking brilliant from Our Billy for the 3rd.

Bet no fucker noticed that though.
I did, and I`ve seen him deliver very well from that position a few times. He noticed how open they were, and got his foot round the ball really well, and Leon made sure with a composed, firm header which wasn`t quite as easy as he made it look.

Yes, Fleck had a good game, as did Clarke and Wright. Basham found things difficult and wasn`t at his best; and Stevens wasn`t quite as good as his, so far, high standard. Hull have some decent players and plenty of pace. They are an almost certain banana skin for any team not "at it". So excellent result and good solid performance.
