Really torn on this one, sometimes Monty looks a Sunday League player, his distribution at times , not all the time, would not be good enough for my local Sunday League team, however he does bring undoubted energy, and can break up other teams and stop there attacks. He will run and chase a lost cause all day. Every team needs a Monty type, it is what we have got round him in midfield that is the problem. Would rather overall keep Monty, but get rid of Quinn instead.

Get rid of a footballer and keep a runner. Just doesn't make sense to me. Quinny could play the Monty role quite easily but he can also contribute when going forward as well.

I've never thought that Quinn has played the central role very well. For me he's better on the left

I think he'd be capable there. He can tackle, isn't the slowest, can run around a lot and he'd be better than Monty once in possession.

If i were Monty i would want to be amongst the highest paid players at the club. He has been loyal, proved he can be effective in the premiership and offers a lot of deffensive qualities to our midfield.

If i were the manager, i would not be prepared to make a player like Monty one of the highest paid players because in my opinion a first choice central midfielder should be able to contribute more offensively.

My heart says give him what he wants but my head says let him move on.

Quinny (probably also by his own admission) has had a very patchy season and to be honest I wouldn't trust him to do Monty's job for 90 mins, I find that he goes missing or his discipline goes.

Perhaps Quinny could play Monty's role and Monty could play Harpers.

And therein lies a chunk of the problem. Some of you have been so dumbed down by the shite that's been on display for so long that you've lost vision, you can't see that there's an alternative, you think that the only way to play is the Blackwell/Monty way.

Maybe the fact that the footballing chimp has been the main positive to you is also the reason that the season's been a massive flop.

As to old short term Sabbatical Boy and his strange rantings about Donny well deary me.....

They are an average side on a modest budget playing reasonable football and achieving mediocrity

If you say so Mart!!! However, I actually think Monty is a player that doesn't suit Blackies style as much as people think. When Monty's at his best its because he does the simple things right that is:

Tackle/ Stop player - win ball (Cleanly) - pass ball 3 yds to Willo

Totally agree with every word.

We've got a pre-historic ape man in charge of us and the least talented professional footballer in terms of skill and creativity that has ever played at such a high level in the most important position on the pitch for me. It is painful to watch, I am sick of watching Monty get the ball in promising positions and play the aimless, chest high blasted 'pass' to whoever he can find in his panic stricken attempts to offload it. We need a total overhaul though - it aint just Monty who gives it away - that is the only thing I agree with Lou on.
