-Dislike Mcabe
-Agree that Adkins needed to go
- And think that Wilder is a good appointment

Each on their own merit - what we appear to have again is those who wanted Adkins to stay not liking Wilder appointment.

The logic of some on here appears to be defend Adkins cos Mcabe sacked him and Wilder is a cheap Bladey Blade appointment.

It's a circle of despair, the same sort of logic employed by many in the Clough/Adkins debates.

I distrust McCabe, didn't think we should get rid of Adkins, but like Wilder, if that helps.

There are definite positives and negatives about appointing Wilder. On the plus side, we've appointed a guy on the up, a man who has got his team up as champions on a small budget.

On the negative side, he's only really had very modest success before Northampton, has never managed in this league or worked for our nut job ownership set up.

I'd absolutely love a genuine blade like Wilder to take us up, and who knows, he might just be the man to do it.

I do hope he's given longer than Adkins, and backed more.

I didn't want Adkins to be sacked, and I didn't want Wilder. But it isn't Wilder at fault. I will judge him on performances and nothing else, as I have done all managers.

I also hope he is afforded time to actually build his way. Just as I wanted for Adkins.

The exact same thing that Wilder has to build on, a completely gutted squad.
Yes here we go again.
Adkins had a squad that had made the playoffs. The only squad to have made progress since coming down. That is what he had to build on.

My personal view:

McCabe - don't dislike the bloke, can't fault him for putting money in. But on the flip side he doesn't seem to have a clue about running a football club.

Adkins - would have kept him, think he would have got it right eventually and we would have seen that next season with a lot of Clough's crap gone and his own players in but never know now.

Wilder - not against him getting the job, had Adkins quit then I would have been 100% behind getting him. I just didn't think it was a good idea to blow millions on getting rid of Adkins, his coaches and paying Northampton compensation. With that expenditure I would want someone like Simon Grayson (obviously unrealistic) who would be more of a sure thing at league one level. I just don't really see Wilder as much, if any of an improvement on Adkins. But he's manager now and I'm 100% behind him.

There's still some sticking up for negative Nige ffs. It's all happened move on, we can't change the past but can enjoy the future

It wasn't Murphy left, Baxter was suspended and Brayford was injured.

Yes we know he had a bad season, we all do. I just personally think that his achievements allows him extra time. I honestly don't care what you think. A question was asked, and I answered. As I said, I will back Wilder 100%, so I don't really see why you care?

Can I ask why people wanted to keep Adkins, what was there to build on?
What money McCabe and co spend on getting rid of Adkins and co will be took away from what could've been spent on player recruitment. Adkins had already started getting rid of the injured players and some of the other shite we had. He was certainly trying to build something, albeit slower than we all wanted. You can only build something if the foundations are in place.

Sacking Nigel Adkins didn't cost us a single penny in compensation.

I think Wilder's a good appointment. Good record working with little, like his style of play and he's clearly got a decent eye for a player. Seems extremely pragmatic as well. However, not convinced he can be as successful at a higher level.
If Adkins was sacked on purely footballing reasons then I think it's a ridiculous decision. If it was for other reasons then fine
As for our smug and 'unlucky' co-owner, I think he's a tit. Two-faced and constantly says one thing then does another.

I see your point, however for me he wasn't building anything that I particularly had time for. The players he brought in bar billy were awful and just when you thought he had cracked it, it fell apart quicker than it came together.

Take away the loans he did bring and the players he loses who are out of contract and he's got nothing to build on, apart from Che and Sharp and most people with a good eye said Che would be better up top.

This league was so bad that we still a chance of the play offs in the penultimate weekend of the season and yet still blew it.

Man, I want to go all bullet point and shit on you!

As I said, slower than we all wanted. However, if he'd have signed Hammond i wouldn't have been best pleased. If the board found out that he was signing him then I'm behind them 100% on the sacking. :D

Are we talking a contract clause similar to what has just happened with Flores at Watford? Some more info and a source would be good.
It would certainly help us understand the sacking a bit more.

Quite a few people have mentioned that there was a non play off clause in his contract. There must be or we will be shelling out at least 1m on Adkins leaving and compo for wilder and his team. We will have to wait till the books are out next year unless our mate Sunjihi fills in the blanks in the meantime.

Don't care if you don't care what I think. It is a forum for discussion so just so you know you can expect a reply from anyone unless you put them on ignore. That really though is when you are so pissed off with someone you have been arguing with for ages and slightly defeats the object of a forum.
