It’s because of the change from three to five substitutions. It appears we look knackered toward the end but when the opposing team can bring on five fresh quality subs on and these subs really are quality from the top teams they can change games and make opposing teams look knackered.
We are not knackered it’s just quality fresh players that we just don’t have to bring on and they swamp defenders.

These five subs was opposed vigorously by Wilder last time we were in the Premier league with support from a number of clubs. We got relegated and then the five subs were introduced.
Klopp has been a forefront advocate for five subs this has made the division much more difficult for the not so good teams. Well done Klopp and now you bugger off with your legacy that will continue to make it easier for the few. Good riddance

Yep and its not just that, its tactically as well.

Better players often can play in more positions and can adjust to the match situation to have a greater impact.

It seems like the game is being more like the NFL with top-class players on the bench, or like Rugby when after 60 minutes the entire front rows are replaced.

Other teams, even like Bournemouth and Fulham, are bringing on £20 million+ international players on after 70 minutes, we are bringing on the likes of Osula who probably isn't even good enough for the Championship as things stand.

We have plenty of international players - especially Brazilian…oh , wait a min 🤔

Tend to agree. Bringing Robertson on for last 20 seeing him bombing up and down the left side like a maniac whilst our players were dead on their feet

Yeah then the moaners go our players are not fit enough. Okay can be true to some extent but when you've been 18% against 82% possession chasing your tails any players will be shattered.

Then the likes of pool have five to come on it should revert back to three subs

Maybe the PL could operate a handicap system. Top 3 clubs no subs, next 3 get 2 subs etc. Bottom 3 get 11 subs. Bit like me playing golf off 29 versus my kids off 3

In USA Football don't they try to even this kind of cheating out by having some sort of cut, or is that Baseball ?,
Either way something has to be done to even this out World wide, before it becomes even more of a closed shop than it already is......
.

It's both. Most games there's 2-3 more at least that need hooking as their physical output has visibly waned. Our subs are also generally coming back from injuries or knackered from previous games. Mcburnie and Osborn would be examples the other night. It's a constant juggling exercise that can only be alleviated by signing quality, fit players for the division we're in with good injury records. I'm a bit fearful of tomorrow. Three games in a week.

Wilder has made the comment about physical substitutions. That is just deflection he has been back since early December. He claimed that Souza and Arblaster were knackered against Fulham but the both played 90 min v Liverpool.

Fitness is not the issue it's being made out to be. We don't press sufficently to be out on our feet. At 20%-30% possession we don't even counter attack that well and our RCB and LCB get forward on the overlap only occasionally.

The issue is a mental one. We play ok until we concede 2 and then the heads drop. There isn't much togetherness in our team. Players like Holgate, Anel, Bogle, Trusty Souza just go through the motions until the 90 min are up.
Osborn and Robinson at least try to put a shift even though both should be squad fillers.
