Is this season a proper football season

I'm not trying to hide away from the fact that this has been a god awful season for United.

But in the annals of football history, should it actually be counted as a proper football season alongside all others. This season has not been the same...

• No fans in stadiums
• Season started late
• Not really a proper pre season
• Covid bubbles

I know the record books will say otherwise, but it just doesn't seem the same to me, I just don't get excited about it any more and the game seems different without fans, there's less of an edge!

It's easy to make a case that we are unlucky as a club, the evidence is overwhelming.

But it could be worse, we could be the other lot. I've made every wrong choice a guy of my age can make, but I chose the right football club.

I feel lucky that we didn’t have any success while not able to go to games. It must hurt like hell for Leeds and Liverpool fans, having waited so long to taste success and not be able to actually be there.

What I was getting at is that the players can do it when motivated. It's a shame that it's only us fans that can do it. Why can't they find the motivation from themselves or the group mentality or something?

Covid has completely fucked us over this season.

Admittedly I don't think we'd have had a season like last year, but we certainly wouldn't be rock bottom.

No fans coupled with the players not being able to spend time together outside of the football club is what has killed us.

Hopefully once fans are back in next season we'll bounce back.

Imo it's a real season. I think if we had fans we wouldnt be where we are. However everyone is in the same boat, other than the few clubs who had small numbers for a week. We didn't adapt and other clubs did. Can't blame this season for how we have played for the majority.

I know it'll make me an easy target for accusations of "making excuses for relegation" & head in the sandism. But. I view what's happening on & off the field rather calmly & with disinterest. The lockdown has made me realise what I probably have known for years. I'm not a fan of Sheffield United, I'm a fan of going to watch Sheffield United play. I hung my fandom Stone Island jacket on the hook the last time I came home from a game. And I'll grab it, breathe in, and hope I can still close the zip, the next time I can go to a game. We were in one league position, with one manager the last time. We'll be in another league position with another manager the next. Apart from a few moments of acclimatisation - what's happened there FFS - football & my particular version of what I support will be back. I know that's a minority view. And I'm trying to explain it, rather than impose it. Although I will say, I don't know how the rest of you can endure the NOISE. Something about not being able to afford to repair a roof because he's bought an Indian non-league team weren't it? It's round, kick it.....
