Do you think that Nigel Clough is going to become our new manager, and if so,what are your thoughts on him?
Although he did a good job at Derby i don't think his style of play is direct enough for this division.
I would probably prefer Pulis at present, hardworking, hard to play against, big strong and a more direct style of play.
What do you think?

Who are the players we have that can play the more direct play you want to see?

From what I have read about clough, his teams like to play football but quicker.

When people have asked me over the last week about the new manager nearly everyone has asked why would you warn Robinson and that we would do well to get clough. Money or no money we are bottom of the third tier and what we need is stability. By every passing moment I lean towards clough.

Pulis would hae to rip this team apart and we don't have time for tht

I wondered if they were waiting till this afternoon to announce him to the crowd at the match.

Would be a poor choice for me, and not the sort of manager we need.
His achievements are very limited, when at Burton they were constantly amongst the better resourced teams in the division at that time and he only got them in a promotion winning position after 11 years, his win percentage there is also not great.
As for Derby he's been mediocre, doing pretty much a par for the course job without ever punching above their weight. From what i know he wasn't very popular at Derby either amongst the players or fans.
I think we'd be lucky to avoid relegation with him at the helm.
Having said all that I thought Weir was a good choice!

He makes a decent coach as he instills grit determination and a never say die attitude , the graft side, neccesary but a manager needs guile, a creative mind an astute awareness of problems and the ability to solve a problem on his feet, if he had any clue hed have started with the eleven we finished with at northmpton

Wouldn't be my choice. There's nothing on his CV that makes me think he's the man to take us forward.

What has everyone got against Chris Morgan? OK he didn't do too well last time but fuckin' hell! that was a lot of pressure for anyone to be under, let alone a complete rookie.

True it was but Morgan isn't ready to be boss yet. Not in the state we are in.

He needs to concentrate on training the defenders as they were better last year when he was in charge of them.

In the shit we are in, we are simply not in a position to risk another rookie manager. We need someone who knows this division and can make sure we stay up this season and look for promotion next season. I would give the new guy a contract until June 2015 with the provision that if either (a) we are relegated this season or (b) we are not in the top 6 in the third tier on 1st Jan 2015 either party can terminate the contract.

Clough was on a one year rolling contract at Derby, I think that would suit us better.

No more 3 year contracts to be paid off if things work out and ensures we'd get compensated if a succesful manager gets tempted away elsewhere.

Didn't our Jim say it wasn't going to be one of the front runners if i remember correctly? Surely this rules Cloughy out? Although Clough wouldn't be my first choice, he has proven himself to be able to keep a club in the Championship, on a tightening budge, unlike some of our other recent managers!

Clough echoes Robson for me.
Emontionless on the touchline and apart from non league sucess,he got the derby job because of ol`big eard.
Nothing in his past four years of constant mediocrity would suggest he`s the man for the job.
No thankyou, not enough fire in his belly for my liking.

I want us to win full stop. No matter who our manager is, whatever playing style we use, and whoever the opposition is. Any supporter of Sheffield United should feel the same way. I cannot understand anyone who doesn't.

I agree although I don't want Morgan as the next manager.

However on saying that when we were losing at Crawley I was hoping it would finish like that to get rid of Weir. Then Marvelous Marlon scored and I went back to being a Blade again...

We need all the points we can WHOEVER is manager.

He definitely was up until Derby started playing games with settling Cloughs deal.
If they hadn’t he would have been appointed by now and we are now looking at other candidates.
That from an ex player who is still involved around the club if that means owt.
