Pulling the cash in spending next to nowt....... makes yer wonder.
With the world financial situation the way it is yer wudn't think so...... BUT McCabes a smart cookie ! so who knows?

Perhaps you answered your own question there BB. The world financial situation means we have to ride out the storm

We're not Man City or Notts Co so can't be splashing the cash all the time.

It nearly twigged then didn't it?

Its like watching monkeys use tools for the time:

frustrating, amusing and pathetic.

in todays financial climate we seem to be been run in a sensible way
having a group of loans players on your books mean that you know that at the end of the season you can reassess and are not tied down to long contracts on high wages.

But on the down side it effects the football as you have a constant turnaround of players.

it seems we are been run more as a business tham a football club wanting to gain promotion to the premier league.

Perhaps, but when we come out of recession will we be in a better or worse position than most around us?

United have been in recession all the time i've supported em then !
It just never happens .........same owd !

Just look across this great city of ours to see what happens when you start paying massive wages, then get a few long term injuries, a big dip in form and then go down a slippery slope down through the divisions, no money and nobody wants to buy a club with a massive debt

Ha Ha... maybe you're to blame BB?

Be Brave BB, step aside and maybe United will come out of this recession :D

I remember when we were the club with the massive debt. We were in the same division as we are in now, regularly pushing for the play-offs...just like now. As for "look across the city". Would that be to our neighbours that are still in the same division as us despite us being so well run and them being in the shit?

I just don't buy it when people are saying how much of a better state we are in than the scummers. They've been in the same division as us for long enough. OK we got to a play-off final, but that means nothing if you don't win it.

what about when they were in the division below us ? does that not count ?

If it does, then so must the seasons they were above. KM has been very fortunate to have his period of stable and solid governance at the same time as our two biggest rivals went bananas.

Hypothetical question, and one that isn't loaded, but if both of them had been run ok-ish this last decade and were still in the league above us, would the accolodes that are accorded to KM be as bountiful?

Good question...

Perhaps we've been run more prudently as a result of our neighbours (all of them not just the pigs and Leeds Scum, Donny, Dingles, Chezzy and Rotherham) mismanagement over the recent years...

Perhaps our own previous management would've been compared more

Perhaps we'd have found other clubs that have been badly run and compared ourselves to them

km doesnt get any accolades though does he ? people like me defend him because we are shit scared of what might happen to this football club if he decided enough was enough and walked away ,surely you can remember what things were like before ?

im afraid if he went we would be right back to square one

if people arent happy now (and the same people were complaining all the way through a promotion season and a year in the prem ) they never will be in my opinion

where does this leave the club ?

theres still rumours of the red bull investment, and somebody said there would be more on this in October

And what is square one exactly? Stuck in this division, struggling to get out and even struggling to fill the match day squad? We're already there my friend. But we'll have a nice, half empty ground by the time the world cup comes around so I'm excited.

Well if we are just making baseless assumptions we would have prices increased back to "normal" levels, the wage bill slashed further as it is still one of the most expensive in the division, and existing players not offered new deals because we can't afford them.

Oh and the stadium plans would be cancelled more too.

Unless Red Bull are interested in making us Red Bull Blades, ditching the whole Sheffield United thing and pumping millions in.

OH HAPPY DAY?

No. It means back to the days when we had the likes of Brealey, Woolhouse or Hinchliffe 'running' (or should that be 'ruining'?) the show.

Back to the days in the not so distant past when our manager had to stump up the cash to by a centre-back we desperately needed.

Back to the days when we had a three-sided stadium, and seemingly little prospect of it being improved.

Those sorts of days. No, we're not where we want to be, but if that means the top flight, we've been there for five season in the last THIRTY THREE years, being relegated twice. Hardly our God(TM) given right, is it?
