Or is he doing a Beattie and not being fit for ages. I know he has a hamstring problem, but 8 games is a bit excessive if its not a bad tear surely.

This is the problem when you sign older players unfortunately. It's not the initial injuries that are the problem, it's the recovery. He was close a couple of weeks ago and seemed to have a setback, so I'm hoping we'll have him back for the Christmas period at least.

Another Beattie without a doubt but will cost more as Beattie was on a pay as you play contract. You have to wonder why he was on a contract until Xmas then given one until end of season whilst injured so he gets paid when he isn't playing. ...bizarre.
