Is it time to change the system?

Fun fact ;
Only Villa and Arsenal have conceded less goals than the Blades. šŸ˜†

I think today we should of gone for it and put McGoldrick as a no.10 and two up top.
We’ve got to ā€œgo for itā€œ against Liverpool and Man City. We can’t keep playing games of attack versus defence. Leeds who only narrowly shaded it against us but they went all out to try and beat Liverpool and Man City. I would sooner get beat 5 -1 having gone toe to toe with em, than getting 10 men behind the ball, concede 80% of possession and then ultimately lose 2-0.
If we do go down, it would be tragic if we looked back and thought we could have done a lot more to affect games.

In League One and the Championship we sometimes found ourselves losing the midfield battle. Wilder then often pushed Basham into midfield and switched to a midfield diamond. This made us more competitive in midfield and we often regained control of the game. It was a good move, which we sometimes did for short spells, in first halves even, and I think it was often overlooked.

The diamond remains our go-to formation, but we seem to have decided Basham switching positions is no longer a viable option. So we're now doing it if we're losing and trying to get back into the game; by subbing Basham off, normally for a striker. So it's now most often a reaction, not a proactive move.

Second half today may have been an occasion where it may have been worth trying.

We just need to start scoring chuffin goals! Our defence is pretty decent. Today should have been wrapped up by half time.

When we're struggling we always seem to just take Bash off and throw on another striker. This only seems to work if McGoldrick is still on the pitch and can drop back into midfield.

We were getting overrun in midfield today and I would rather have pushed Bash into midfield and tried to shore that up than simply throw on another attacker.

I feel like a broken record but we're just short in midfield and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it until January.

I do not think we have the strikers to score the goals in this league to be successful, but collectively we might have enough across the team to stay up. OK Brewster is an unknown, but realistically if he scores 10 as a 20 year old would be fabulous, but he probably needs time to develop.

I have always defended McBurnie & thought that he would come good, BUT too many times he has straightforward headers & places them straight at the keeper. In fact apart from Leicester has he scored with his head?
Sadly I think he is a Championship striker who over the season might get another 6, but for £20 million its not enough. I think this is a s good as it gets for him.

Didzy, Billy, Burke & Moose [when fit] are not going to get 20 goals over a season from what I have seen [oh for a Billy Sharp aged 27 ish]. This is not a criticism, when you look at the money spent speculatively on strikers [Joelinton, Wesley. Haller, Watkins, Maupay, McBurnie] upto £40 million only buys you hopeful potential, only above £50 million [Werner] buys you proven goal scoring. And we do not have this, so its work with what we have!

I say this but I fancy McBurnie to score at Anfield in a 1 all draw!

Hopefully I am celebrating in Madeira at the time! But alternatively its a great place to feel sorry for yourself!

I hate to use the word but we are a team in transition, from one that has been used to a system with the same players for years to one that’s improving the squad with new players - CWAK trying things to see what works, it’s a really difficult place to be as we can’t wait to long to settle on who we need to be. Add into that mix injuries to key players and it makes it even more difficult.

it’s gonna be a tough few games and we need to sit tight and be patient, If we can get 18-20 points by the new year we’ll be fine (I think)

You do know that’s probably the same ratio as what Man City are aiming for to keep in touch with the leagues top places...and we play them, Liverpool and Chelsea next??

If Fulham are supposed to be the ā€œwhipping boysā€ of the league. We are well fucked.
Well last season we failed to beat Watford. The league 1 promotion season Walsall did double over us and we've failed to beat a dire Wednesday team in 3 consecutive attempts.

We're still creating the chances we're just not taking them. With a bit of clinical finishing the results could have (should have!?!) Been..

Wolves 2-2
Villa 1-1 or 2-1
Leeds 1-1 or 2-1
Fulham 3-1

The Arsenal game was probably right.

We need a goal scorer that’s all.
Our goals against is proof enough.
