......for the club to finally ban the Sheffield Star and Radio Sheffield? They have crossed the line this week with their reaction to the Coventry game.

Can you imagine the Coventry Evening Telegraph giving a platform to an 'open letter' from Blades fans if the situation were reversed?

We cannot control content of the media, but we can control these parasites coming onto club property and broadcasting.

Absolutely.

A concerted refusal to have fuck all to do with those organs of gutter journalism is what we need to adopt.

Let them know what happens when you deliberately and consistantly alienate a sizeable portion of the city's population.
 
I personally don't have a problem with Radio Sheffield sports department, which is the only bit I listen to . It might not be to everyone's taste but I think I'd miss it if it wasn't there. Everyone thinks they are biased against them which probably means they are being fair handed.

I didn't realise the The Star was still on sale to be honest. Terrible newspaper and has been for at least two decades. I wouldn't worry too much about it because it won't be around much longer and I'll not miss it. Not totally convinced if it's biased, but its definitely shit. The only thing that had me buying it was for match reports, until I realised years ago that Deadbat wrote much better ones without me having to waste 30p or whatever it costs
 
I personally don't have an issue with Radio Sheffield at all.

Think they do a decent unbiased job most of the time, but at the end of the day both are run as a business and are there to generate revenue, and will obviously pick up on a story making the national press as it generate interest locally and nationally.

And if we don't let them broadcast then lots of fans will miss out on wilders interviews and commentary etc.

World Cup bid: no opposition to Wednesday getting the proposed gig, despite bid relying on money from the public purse. McCabe had offered to fund the Blades bid.Also wider questions about propriety of Wednesdays bid not mentioned by Star, despite McCabe's comments

Focus on human right record of Saudia Arabia after the Prince got involved. Ignorance of human rights abuses of Thailand (Chansiri), Serbia (Mandaric) and Azerbaijani, after proposed takeover of businessman Hafiz Mammadov

No comment on animal rights abuses of John West Tuna, despite mainstream media covering it and mass petitions.

Ched Evans: no condemnation of any anti Evans chants before his first trial - including prominent "she said no" chants from Wednesday.

Condemnation of Sufc fans support of Evans, including a ridiculous article that sensationalised a few morons singing a minor chant for Ched. No mention was made of the whole crowds support for a recently deceased child on the same night.

Editors opposition to SUFC allowing the released Evans to continue his rehabilitation at SUFC once released.

No opposition to his signing for Chesterfield.

A succession of racist incidents among Wednesday fans, not being given the primacy that they'd have no doubt got if it was Blades fans involved.

No condemnation of Wednesdayites actions in Palace relegation match.

Condemnation of Marlon King signing.

Printing open letter from Coventry fan on Sisu issue. No room given for Sufc supporter(s) response. .

Agree with this... It's like when everyone can't decide if the presenters are blades or pigs. To me that means they are doing a decent job of staying neutral

Radio Sheffield are not a business, they are funded by the taxpayer.
 
If it was up to me at sufc, id ban the sheffield star from entry to the Lane with immediate effect and tell radio sheffield thay the club is considering banning them if they continue with their biased comments. I was listening to RS' footie heaven last night and it must have seemed from an outsider listening in that Blades fans were reaponsible for the farce of a game v the Squatters on Thursday.

It was all a case of Piggy Rob who was presenting the show telling everyone 'wot could they do...all local fans would react the same i.e. in making the game a farce, and then reading out numerous texts from other local teams fans all with anti blades agenda's accusing Blades fans of having no class. Bearing in mind it was the squatters who invaded the pitch (twice), goaded the blades fans, through stuff at the blades players, and blew referee whistles constantly, non of this was mentioned by radio sheffield 6.

It was a complete load of biased bollox from Piggy Stanton and his porky crew. Utd should be having a quiet word with the RS producers and telling them to sort it out or lose access to the Lane and any media.

If a radio station gets banned it makes them look a right set of dickwads. I know i will stop listening to RS if they were banned from sufc media coverage. Fuk sake they work for the bbc and should at least be impartial not actively seemingly biased against a club from their own city. As for the Sheffield Star id just tell them to fuk off and laugh when they finally go out of business.
 
Radio Sheffield isn't biased for me. Just dull.

The Star is a horrible, pointless, poorly written, gutter press paper that deserves to go where it's heading. I feel for the people who work for the paper outside of the " journalists" and editors as they are the ones who will suffer the most after it's inevitable demise.
 
Print journalism doesn't have a legal obligation to be balanced and impartial - the Editor's Code only suggests it as a moral standard of practice in its guidelines.

Broadcasters, on the other hand, are more strictly regulated (by Ofcom) and have a legal obligation to be balanced/neutral/impartial (I'm paraphrasing here as I forget the exact wording. All journalists have to know the various codes of conduct pretty well, as they're covered in the professional examinations.

Not claiming to be ITK here... I was trained as a journo back in the day and have worked at the Star and Radio Sheff briefly. For the record, I thought Andy Giddins was a great guy, as was Paul Thompson, the long-serving Pig reporter. I used to feel like punching myself in the face when listening to fucking Megson droning on in his pressers at the training ground. Thank god I didn't go down that career path.

I think radio Sheffield would be a lot better if they were open about who they support. I think the stance that they support all the local teams just gets people's backs up when the mask slips. Like when Staton said at Wembley last season. "look at the Wednesday fans, the potential is there for all to see. I know we have another 5 clubs in the region but......." . He showed his hand at an emotional time for him. Nothing wrong with that but you can't say you are impartial when it comes to the local clubs then say something like that without sounding ridiculous.

Do you recall an hour long special ,when we signed Marlon King ? A one liner when the grunters signed Nile Ranger . Save OUR Owls said all you need to know about local journalism. Tubby Foster and Rob Staton are an embarrassment to even their lowest of the low standards.

Well that is how daft RS can be at times.

Why is it important what other football fans in our region think of the match on Tuesday night? It had nothing to do with them at all. Most of the local clubs are not even in this league and were not at the match. Why do they think the general public give a shit what some 6 fingered twat from South Barnsley has to say about it.

I thought the RS phone in was for people to talk about their club not the other way around. RS commentary can be decent at times but everything else about Football Heaven is utter shite.
 



Yep, Toby Fosters involvement taking the issues into his day show is when RS's mask really slips.It infiltrates the whole station. The only option we have is to starve the Star of revenue, including online advertising revenue. Also don't listen to Radio Sheffield. Or restrict to match day commentaries only.
 
I feel like I'm going insane!

It was a handful of supporters, a large percentage of which go to away games expecting to be part of the 'banter' - which basically means trying to rile the opposition fans. Either the RS and Star journalists know this and are cynically trying to fill up air-time that they secretly think is redundant, or they really are that fucking stupid that they believe the shit they bang on about. Probably the former.

The self-riteous loser who wrote the open letter says he hopes we don't have to suffer the same as them (he does) and that they'll stand with is if we do (they won't). In response I'd ask him not to waste his time and just enjoy the next Coventry match. If we ever suffer under the hands of nightmare ownership I hope we (united fans) can make our point together and not let our protest turn into a petty and embarrassing shit-slinging match with a handful of away fans.
 
The BBC are the most left leaning biased station in the UK and have been for the past five years. I know this is slightly off topic but it makes my piss boil. Their coverage of the Brexit Vote before and after was and is cringeworthy to say the least. I used to watch Question Time, not anymore, even the fucking audience is biased. Evan Davies is the worst of the lot, very annoying twat. We've even got pampered arseholes like Gary Lineker preaching to the masses like some perceived God figure. I wish to fuck that they would get rid of the licence fee. You'd think after the Jimmy Savile shit that they'd show a bit more humility.

Add to your list the 'Save Our Owls' campaign that the Star ran in the late 1970's when they were on the verge of being relegated to the old fourth division. No such campaign was launched when we were in the same position in 1981.
 
I listened to Footy Heaven last night and didn't feel that Staton did a bad job of it to be honest. He didn't beat down any of the Blades who called in from what I recall and felt he read out a balanced range of emails, texts and tweats. I am normally quite critical of RS but as blade67 says, I think the sports coverage is fairly good and would be missed by many if it went.

As for the Star, completely agree with the OP. Shields is a nice enough bloke and although fairly useless at least fights our corner. BUT, as for most of the rest they can go and fuck themselves, have a shower and then fuck themselves again as far as I am concerned.

I would definitely ban the star reporters from the lane as for Radio Pig that might be a bit harder (doesn't blades player use their commentary ?) but I would for sure be having strong words to ensure a more un biased coverage of all thing relating to the Blades. It didn't do the dingles any harm to ban them for a while.
 
Anybody remember the Star's condemnation of the "one Carlos Tevez chants" we endured for a couple of seasons? Me neither. Perfect opportunity for this line during the LC win, when Hammers fans had the Tevez masks on all around the stadium. They could have easily portrayed it as justice being done. They didn't, sadly.

Nothing as daft as the phone in Tubby did when Smegson got the sack though.
 
Banning the media? may as well change the name of the stadium to Pyongyang Lane too. Radio Sheffield is average as a station but I dont find their football coverage bad at all, and praise or grumble is just for comedy value.but as said above people cant decide who the presenters support so must be doing a good job of being impartial, as for the Star its a poor poor small town paper that services a city with two big football teams. problem lies with people like my old man, complains about it, says he doesn't read it and hasnt done in years yet still pays for it to be shoved through his letter box.

having said that, all Cities need a local rag.
 
At the risk of making a slight generalisation, all journalists are the same - will do anything to sell a story which usually means lying because it's more sensational than the often mundane truth of everyday life whether inside or outside of football realms.
They don't ever apologise and usually if somebody points out that they are in fact incorrect they will write a contrite correction approximately 2 sentences in length on page 36 of the next issue which recognises that they have in fact been proven to be lying sensationalist bullshitters , then they go back to snaking around for another atrociously written article to publish to brainwash the gullible and the piggies of this world. For this reason I don't read any print journalism and only read 'factual' reports on the BBC who are obligated to be impartial (even they don't always manage it)
