Is it because he's a Malteaser?

So Bogdanovic confirms talks with us.
Not seen much of him but the bits I have seen make me think he'd be a bit of a lightweight in a Blackwell-style team.
I hope we're not still buying players to keep sponsors etc happy.

I had heard sporadic rumours that the sponsors may help facilitate a potential move, rather than us simply do it to keep them happy :)

I saw him pre season at Barnsley against Man City a game in which he scored and he looked a good player.

of course, we shouldn't take his word for it that the Blades have approached him ;)

From the Star so got to be true
"Blackwell, thought to be lining up moves for Barnsley forward Daniel Bogdanovic and highly-rated Notts County defender Stephen Hunt"

He did score 14 times this season, so he isn't a complete mug. Being Maltese might help, but we'll have to see all the other in's and out's before we can tell if there is more to it.

I won't rest until i've seen it confirmed in the sun or mirror

What exactly does he offer? We've got target men, fox-in-the-box and nippy little forwards. Unless he's going to bring 30 goals a season to the party, why invite him?

I can only imagine the sponsors are subsidising this one. But I have watched him a few times this season and he's a good player. Alongside Colace, they were the two players that stood out from a very average Barnsley side and I wouldn't mind having both of them.

I'm not sure how we'd use him, depends on how Blackwell approaches the new season I guess. He's not really a target man, and also not much of a poacher. More a poor mans Berbatov, likes to drop off the front man and create. Would be a signing that shows Blackie might be intending to change the way we play as he'd be rendered useless in the current system.

look .. can he 'put himself about' for 90 minutes.. run about a lot.. 'run through a brick wall for the club'.. 'do you think spurs might be interested in a years time' (just for you puppet) if not he's better off somewhere else.. personally i'd prefer players who could work out more elegant solutions to the brick wall problem rather than running straight through it.. alas.. this is where KB and i differ in opinion

Presumably because we will be selling at least one of the forwards we've already got.

Wouldn't be surprised if we saw both Sharp and Hendo leave soon.

Think the answer to those questions is a very definite no. His workrate has been questioned a lot at Barnsley where they saw him as a bit of a luxury I think.

I'm not overly keen on us signing him but I don't think he could be described as fitting to the steroetype people have of Blackwell signings.

That's because he aint a Blackwell signing (not that I want him signing players obviously).

I'm more than happy for McCabe/Birch to take more of an interest in the type of player we sign but passing control over team affairs to the Maltese tourist board is not what I had in mind.

Becuase he is a decent asset on a free transfer. With Sharp, Camara and Henderson possibly on their way then we might be needing another striker more than you think.

From what I've seen of him then he looked at good player. He certainly gave us the run around at Oakwell. He was pretty skilfull and has an eye for goal. He scored a goal every 3 games for a poor Barnsley team which is better than most of our strikers (Cresswell exempt). He's quite a big lad as well so he could fit into KB's style of play.

I'm not bothered too much about his work rate Coops. He is tricky and dangerous and will score goals. That's enough for me. take cressy for example. He contributes very little in open play, but has a real eye for goal. Whenever i've seen Cresswell I''ve thought that he was preety inneffective, but he has a knack of getting himself in the right place at the right time. i couldn't care less if he/they are wank for 89 minutes if they score the winner.
