His goal scoring record speaks for itself. 29 in 55 matches, unless I'm mistaken. And I'm not. That's better than a goal every other game, a ratio most strikers would sell their granny for.
He also defends well.
So can we finally get rid of the idea that he's lazy?

He's that lazy, he makes the rest of the playes look like corpses!!! He is our best striker, our best defender and our best midfielder by a country mile.

But some people just don't see it!

As with other players. Some fans make their mind up before they see them play unfortunately.

:o:o:o

He was poor v Plymouth, but i could not bring myself to grumble too much.

I mean, how can you?

29 in 55, incredible record.

Do people want us to have workmen strikers like Asaba? (no disrespect so Sarbs, i loved him!)

I remember when our top goalscorer had 5 league goals!

Obviously those who criticize Beatts have only been to the lane in the last 3 years.

Beattie is brilliant.

"What's he doing back there and on the wing!? He's a striker"

Erm...it's called playing as a team and covering.

What did our top scorer get when we won promotion?

I've maintained throughout his whole Blades career, that anyone saying he's lazy clearly doesn't fully watch a game of football.

He is a lazy git...................and he can be for me if he scores the goals !

All in all Beattie is what i'd class a proper striker.

Granted sometimes he can come across as being lazy and disinterested but that is all part of what he is. He is a mercurial striker who like all strikers can blow a bit hot and cold but when he blows hot, he blows red hot, when he blows he cold there is not much we can do about it.

Yesterday he was absolutely at the top of his game, and for me the reason we got a win yesterday

Just looked and it was Neil Shipperley with 11:D

What a star:D
And we had half a dozen other players around the 10 goal mark. It worries me greatly that without Beattie we'd be stuffed. I've said it since we signed him that it's perfectly feasible for him to score 30 goals and we finish mid-table. It nearly happened last season and if he get's injured, it could happen this season.

Danny Webber scored 10:D

The one thing those stats show is back then Danny Webber still wasn't scoring heavily for a player of his capabilities

Well he obviously can't be bothered with having a shave... scruff!

Beats is one of those players who seems to genuinely enjoy playing football. I've said before that sometimes he tries to do too much (i.e. defending and supporting play) when he could do with standing in the box to knock the ball in. He's cleared at least one off the line this season though, so I suppose you can't grumble at that.

I agree, if he had some service like more crosses into the box then he would just be on different level to anything in the championship.

On the other hand Prozone don't lie,
ALL week Kevin Blackwell, the Sheffield United manager, stared at two columns of statistics in the thorough way that a pathologist scrutinises a bloodstain.

He didn’t like what he saw. ProZone, the football bosses’ Bible, told him that United had created exactly 100 chances in their previous five matches, but scored just three goals. To make matters worse, one of those was a penalty and another came directly from a free kick.

By the time 20 games had passed last season (both league and cup), Beattie had scored 11 goals.

20 games have now passed this season (again, both league and cup) and Beattie has scored 7... after admitting he's not been fit for the first few months.

Not bad going... but like TA says, no one else seems to be getting the goals.

EDIT: Mr Beattie has made the Football League team of the week (as has ex-Blade Alan Quinn).
