A few folk on here get very upset when folk post in the wrong section. So here is my topic for discussion until more exciting matters come to light for the rumour mill.
The forum is clearly titled the "Rumour Mill". When a member wants to suggest a player as a possible target, how is that a rumour?. If it's a suggestion picked up from someone or somewhere else, then clearly it should be titled a rumour and not a suggestion.
If someone just wants to suggest a player for whatever reason, but has not heard anything to suggest we are interested, then that is a suggestion and not a rumour.
So to we ask our esteemed forum leaders (creep creep) to rename the forum "Rumours and Suggestions Mill" or do we put suggestions in the "General Chat"
If I knew how, I would start a vote, but I don't so lets see what you think.

There's a Player Suggestion prefix, to enable the filtering of suggestion in there :)

A good suggestion can be as good as a rumour!

It often happens that a suggestion thread becomes a rumour thread then sometimes even a 'confirmed'.

No problem with suggestions as long as they're realistic and not garbage. If it was just rumours it wouldn't be read as much, which would mean fewer posts and fewer rumours. As it is, nothing is missed.

Better yet. We could have a suggestion mill then you could put that section on ignore. Seems like a win-win to me

The conversion rate of 'suggestion' to genuine rumour to actual signing is negligible.

I think the directions written for rumours is quite specific, post the link of where the rumour was found. I seem to recall the 'suggestion' tag was added so that those reading could identify a genuine rumour from other stuff, so that they could ignore the flights of fancy that most suggestions tend to be.

I get what the OP is saying, the majority of stuff posted in the rumours section is not a rumour. The problem is where do the pie in the sky, personal ideas, whims and wishes get put. If the rumour section becomes just rumour with a genuine link, the suggestions will fill the General Blades section, generating loads of moaning about that. This is generally that pub chat of , 'X is a good player we should sign him', 'bollocks he wouldn't come here/he's shite/too expensive'

Best left as it is, as long as people use the suggestion tag so it's clearly identified. Then me and others can just ignore the majority of them.

EDIT:

There is also a 'Comments, suggestions and problems' section at the bottom of the forum for any ideas for improvements to the forum. Where this could've gone :D

Why not just put suggestions in General Blades Chat? Leave Rumours for, well, rumours. Substantiated by a link where possible, obviously

You can do what you like as long as you know that Ricky suggested the player first. ;)

If I was ITK (which I’m not, I’m gloriously NITK) Id hesitate to tag a thread “Incoming” unless I was 99% certain it was going to happen. I wouldn’t want to alert our competitors and have someone nip in before us and nick the player.

I read the “incoming” tagged threads as having some substance behind them. The “suggestions” are a mixture of rumours and pure fantasy. Like Stuart Beavon!

How many of our competitors do you reckon are scanning this board looking for potential players to sign? o_O

I was just about to say the same! Also these players must have terrible agents if they are just sat around waiting for the phone to ring instead of making contact with our competitors themselves.

To qualify as a rumour , shouldn't there be a source mentioned ?
Even if it's anonymous.
Eg : someone at the Club , someone who knows an agent , a newspaper , an internet link , a fan of the player's current Club , etc
