Pretty much picks itself apart from one position. Assuming Sharp is out who dances with McGoldrick? Madine and we get too tempted to play long balls from the back hampering our ability to get the defenders forward, but on the other hand Ipswich are weak in defence and can get bullied back there. Or keep Hogan in, probably suits our style more than Madine but has had limited opportunities playing in this side. Tough one this.

Don't start Hogan. Has to be Madine or Sharp.

Get Basham back in.

Hogan is quicker than Madine and more likely to get behind a defence.
The problem is Ipswich are likely to sit back and hope to keep it 0-0 at half time, their game plan will be to keep it 0-0 as long as possible and hope the crowd become nervous.

There’s not likely to be much space so playing an intricate passing football might be really tricky 1st half especially.

If Sharp can’t play then I’d go with Madine, hopefully we’ll be leading when we can bring Hogan on to replace Madine, the game should be stretched by then with Ipswich pushing forward more, hopefully Hogans pace will get behind their defence.

Dont change a winning team.
Dull are far more dangerous than Ipswich.
No?

*Edit : missed the news of his return! o_O

Madine for Hogan is the only change I foresee.

Incidentally there is an atrocious weather forecast for Saturday afternoon and evening strong winds and heavy rain, let’s hope it doesn’t make it a bit of a lottery.

Be poetic if an ineligible player scored the goal to send us back to the premier League.

I was messing originally but now I’m coming around to the idea.

Knowing us though we’d be docked points for it and not just a fine.

Lets try to bring a bit of normality to the board.

We all know that 3 points will be a huge step towards promotion, however I don't think we have looked totally convincing in our last 3 home games, having spells in all those games where we have been under pressure and looked nervous.

Although at Hull we seemed to put all this to bed and put in a commanding 90 minute performance. This is the level we need to be at Saturday.

So team news. I doubt very much Sharp will be back, Basham made an appearance at Hull so he will obviously be in contention. The only selection headache will be Madine or Hogan.

My preference would be;

- - - - - - - - - - - - Henderson - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - Basham - - Egan - - O'Connell

Baldock - - - -Norwood - - Fleck - - - - Stevens

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Duffy - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - Madine - - - - McG - - - - - - - - - -

Subs: Moore, Hogan, Dowell, Cranie, Coutts, Freeman, Stearman

Madine on the basis that I expect us to start really fast and get crosses into the box.

One big push needed.

On a side note, does anyone else kinda wish that it wasn't a sell out and it was just the run-of-the-mill 24/25k going to be there. Making the game feel as routine as we need it to be?!

Don't think Hogan will have much of an impact as I imagine that Ipswich will sit back and defend. Hogan wouldn't be able to use his strongest attribute, his pace

Personally I would go with the starting 11 from Saturday, but having Bash and Billy back in the lineup would be no chore either :)

In terms of our recent home performances, I accept the point made but we need to consider the opposition too.

- Brizzle have beaten us at home the last 3 times they have played us, and seem to be a bogey team for us in general. Quick, high intensity football with some very good players.

- Millwall were scrapping for their lives.

- Forest are solid, niggly, horrible sods and were always going to be a tough nut to crack.

Do Ipswich possess any of the attributes above? They won't be pushovers, as they are professional players who must have some semblance of pride. However the fact is that they just aren't very good.

We just need to relax on Saturday, play our natural game and by any reasonable measure of probability we will open them up time and time again. Add a little composure to the mix and we should get the job done.

COYRAWW!

Did Hogan contribute to any of the three goals on Saturday ? Happy to be proved wrong but think not. Madines the man - can also help defend any nervous early corners which might be their chance to nick in front and park the bus. in the end wilder and knill have earned my full confidence to make the right calls. What a great season.

yes he did contribute by being the mobile front man - not the generally static front man that we launch long balls to and HOPE to support.

For the ones that didn't go to Hull, we played on the deck football and simply played through and round Hull - the first half was quite possibly one of our best this season - pass and move - great to watch. Madine has his uses - as did Hanson.

Play long? or play through? I know which most would like to see.
