Great Stuff. At the end of the 1982 / 83 season (it may have been 83/84) I went to Belle Vue to watch a mate from Fox Hill playing for Huddersfield Town in a junior (U18?) cup match. Deano was playing for Donny and was clearly head and shoulders above everyone else (in more ways than one).
What is ironic is that my mate broke his leg in that game and was carried off the pitch to a waiting ambulance. I wonder what Deano thought at the time (with his own broken leg so recent) and whether he can still remember the game?

More thanks from over here Shredds. I don't know where you find the photos, but they are some crackers in these pieces.

PS - hope your lad is starting to get the Blades bug now. Patience.... :)

Ranny, another great interview, really enjoy reading them.

Don't know if you got my email the other week but yes if you're after any help or advice with doing a book give us a shout.

Part 2 http://aunitedview.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/interview-with-brian-deane-part-2.html

Peezablade - It is a good question, if you are on twitter you could ask him @deanobri1968 I suspect he could empathise greatly

SuperPig - See linky above and thanks

Thanks Kenilworth

JD - Cheers. The photos are sourced on teh net or from old newspapers I have at home and also some photos Tony Agana kindly shared when I met up with him

SUFC Handsworth - Cheers Banger. Yes I will be in touch. Got a bit distracted through other things but your input and thoughts would be welcomed.

i really do enjoy these interviews of yours. excellent work. long may it continue ...

brilliant stuff mate.. part 3!! :D
brightened up a dull dinner hour that has as well as bringing back lots of memories.. like leicester and liverpool both roasting hot days.. rush nobbling tracy (i was in compost corner that day and remember it vividly).. everytime i see him on tv i start ranting at the telly!

These interviews are priceless, and I can't wait for the next one. Dane Whitehouse? Or maybe Dave Bassett?

Whoever you get I don't really mind, it'll be good.

Cheers Derrywan and shorehamview. If anyone has any contacts with former players then let me know and I'll see what I can do. I've got contact details for a couple of Bassett era Blades that I need to follow up on. It is just finding time around family and work commitments to do it.

Anyone know how I can change thread title from Part 1 to All Parts with Links! ??

Thank you, really terrific stuff. Brings back many happy memories. Looking forward to the next one.

Nice one Shreds, a thoroughly enjoyable read that. Look forward to the next one. Good man!

What a great read shreds, thanks so much for dedicating your time and efforts!
He'll remain to this day my favorite ever blades player. Would have loved to hear his thoughts on his two hatricks in a row which i think followed his return from glandular fever?

Cheers JD. Someone on twitter brought it to my attention as well. I suspect it was John Ashdown's doing and I am really grateful. Having said that, I assume it wouldn't get up there without it being worthy so I've got to take that as a massive positive.

Thanks for the other nice comments gents.

Melbourne - There was so much we didn't have time to cover. Maybe a Deano autobiography down the line??!

Most deserved recognition if you ask me. I've read quite a few of John A's tweets so I know he is a fan :) But I think this is warranted purely on merit. As for the next one, well he's around the club and must have vast amounts of anecdote and insight (not just about SUFC, but football in general) so why not Bill Dearden?

Thanks Ian, that was great. I thought I will read part 1, then read the others another night. Then after reading part 1, I thought - I need to read part 2 right now, the same with part 3!

That was a really good insight into his career. Some interesting stuff about the moves too, shame he couldn't shed more light on them!

I remember Brian's 3rd stint when he almost scored with a header from a cross at the Bramall Lane end. Everyone on the Kop was willing it to go in. If that was in front of the Kop we would have sucked it in for a certain goal!

"Q. You then moved to Sheffield United and scored their first Premier League goal?"

THE!
