Jamal Blackman could be available for selection when Sheffield United return to Championship action at Burton Albion later this month. But, speaking after last weekend’s game against Hull City, Chris Wilder revealed defender George Baldock, who also missed the victory over Leonid Slutsky’s side, could be forced to sit-out the visit to Staffordshire in 11 days time.

Blackman had started all of United’s league fixtures this season until damaging his back during the defeat by Queens Park Rangers. After returning to his parent club Chelsea for treatment, Wilder suggested the on-loan goalkeeper’s injury is not as serious as first feared despite refusing to provide an exact diagnosis.

“Jamal has got a chance for when we come back,” the United manager said. “It’s not certain because these things never are but there’s every possibility he could be ready for that one.

” Although Simon Moore’s presence means there are no guarantees Blackman will enjoy an immediate recall should be passed fit. United will be keen to see Baldock declare himself ready given that fellow wing-back Kieron Freeman is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder.....

Freeman dislocated shoulder?????
Star reporting at its best

Burton is a team we really should be putting to the sword.

I’d rather not have bash as full back but would still fancy us.

I saw Jamal today in pets at home lol I asked him how he was and what the injury was. He said it was nerves in his lower back and he's going back down to Chelsea next week and he hopes to get the all clear from them to return to training and therefore be fit for after the international break. He seemed a really nice down to earth genuine guy, good luck to him.

Sorry Luke but that was me on a wind up.

I'm 5'8 and pasty white though so l'm surprised you fell for it.

Never mind the injury update, what pet did he get?

#FakeNews

We 'know' he wasn't injured and just went down to cover his mistake. We 'know' this because other wise posters told us it was true.

We also 'know' he is a 'bombscare', an 'accident waiting to happen' and he will 'cost us dear' due to the hight level of mistakes he apparently makes.

I wonder how the Blackman-haters coped with Moore's crappy effort at the Hull goal and his subsequent drop of the ball?

Perhaps it is time to get Long back and get some preventitive booing in, to 'help' him.

Can' wait for a fit Evans back in contention, I honestly think that next to Clarke they will be awesome.

Would you really start Evans over Sharp? Don't get me wrong I welcome the competition, b.ut I have seen nothing yet to suggest that Evans deserves the Shirt off Billy Sharp. Billy is our captain, a boy hood blade and our top every season scorer since re-joining: one of the first names on my team sheet. Clarke, Sharp, Donaldson and Brooks are way ahead of Ched in the pecking order at the minute, then there's Lavery to factor in. I'd loan Evans out for a bit, let him get fit and prove he's still got it.

At what point in my post did I say he "deserved the shirt off Sharps back"!? What a ridiculous assumption!
Incase you don' pay to much attention to games involving UTD, Sharp only usually plays for 60 mins, Ched whilst in the team, usually comes on for the last 20-30mins, hope you see where my thought lays here.................
Ched n Clarke would then be together upfront, and as they seem to have formed a really strong bond, I'm looking forward to seeing how they do. Hope that' cleared that up for ya?

Give the bloke a chance but is he good enough for the current team?

No and no with a slice of no. I haven't seen anything to suggest he is good enough for a team chasing promotion to the premier league, he has been dire
this season. He's league 1 at best.

I hope i'm wrong but too much sentiment is given to Ched.
