What's going on.? Jack, Lunny, Fleck, Freeman and now Leon. All just bad luck or is some kind of mind games going on between wilder and the players? Is there an agenda NOT to get into Europa league because of thinness of squad and finance to protect prem league status next season? Hard to take but sensible really. This impact injury with Jack is a mystery - did Hendo break his skull ? Is wilder fed up with effort/ performance levels of Fleck/Leon etc and benching them to stew? Some players downing tools? Protecting jacks sale value ? I am not completely buying this sudden attack of injuryitis but, full disclosure, this is pure conjecture and zippo ITK. Go on , shoot me down with actual ITK or decent reasoning

We will have to wait and see....

I've been reliably informed Sheffield United players don't get injured

Is there a 5G mast near Shirecliffe????

Jack will be back before soon, maybe not tomorrow but maybe the game after.

I think it's because the players get two days recovery after each game and with the games coming thick and fast whatever we normally do after that we can't ,so I'm surmising that anyone with a niggle is just not being risked which given the circumstances seems fair enough
Our medical department obviously known what they are doing and have adapted to the post covid era and the exhausting schedule

All picked up injuries at an all-nighter sesh. JOC and Lunny were doing Scottish accents and Flecky kicked off. All ended up in A+e , fact, seen it on Twitter.

Because despite what some United fans believe, our players aren't invincible. The fact that players are returning after so long out and being made to play in games so close to each other is taking it's toll on every team, just with us it's some of our best players getting injured.

What's more likely, a conspiracy to make sure we don't achieve qualification to Europe or our players are capable of being injured?

We have had injuries this season pre lockdown, Fleck missed quite a few at the beginning of the season, McGoldrick missed a couple, Egan missed one and probably others.

Last season we had plenty too.

It's just the schedule exacerbating things.

Who knew?

I do find it slightly odd when Wilder is asked about them he is pretty dismissive and just says two weeks, like he doesnt want to talk about it. Then when he said Robinson and Osborn could be the new OConnell and Fleck it did make me slightly concerned.

Probably nothing in it though

I said this somewhere yesterday, but the players have gone from playing and training as normal, to having the longest period of time without football or proper training in their adult lives, to coming back and almost straight away playing two PL games a week and full contact training in between.

Is it any wonder there are injuries being picked up? Its not just us either- Burnley for one have a list of players out for tomorrow.

What is a bit surprising is that JOC’s (apparently) and Lunny’s are impact injuries rather than strains, which are the type of injuries you’d expect players to pick up after a long lay off.

Comparatively, we've been lucky with injuries since Wilder took control. When we signed McG I thought his record of injuries would suggest someone always in the physio's room, but no, we've done well, so not that surprising that it's caught up with us, but hey, look at the number of games in such a short period of time, little wonder players have niggles or worse. I'd imagine that as well as most other areas of the game that Wilder's quite savvy about the need for good medical/physio staff.
It's why the new training complex will be better suited to the healing process with facilities that are first class, that investment will be returned many times over.

Yeah, JOC I can see the intrigue with. But we all saw what happened to Lundstram; unless he faked that landing to cover for a move elsewhere, in which case he should really consider career move to WWE.

I suspect a lot of the radio silence on injuries has to do with Wilder getting pissed off the other week about the team being leaked. Maybe he’s trying to smoke out the leaker?

Yeah, I’m not really saying there’s any intrigue, just that we’ve done better than a lot of clubs on non-impact injuries.
I think CW is probably just taking advantage of the uncertainty. If you were an opposition manager before lockdown you could predict our team and how we’ll play. Now it’s more difficult, which is to our advantage.

Yet another conspiracy theory!?!?!?
Take a look at Burnley's current injury list and then have another think. Do you think they don't want to finish as high as possible either?
If, and it is a huge if, a player was on their way out of the club, there's nobody I would trust more than CW (with AK, Mitchell, Scheiber and Bettis) to identify and bring in a suitable replacement.
Please just stop all the worrying and enjoy one of, if not the best times ever to be a Blade

I think he had already been asked the question in another interview. I noticed Wilder hates it when someone asks a question that someone else has already asked at these press conferences. Giddings yesterday must have just asked the same question as someone else but rephrased it plus Giddings had asked about injuries after the match anyway.

Also, I assume Mike McCarthy has been told he can no longer interview Wilder? Not heard him do an RS interview for a while now.

Wilder is an experienced manager and will know by now that each media outlet will, for their own content, want their own staff asking questions they want answers for. If a key issue is injuries, and Maxster on a week’s work experience as a reporter for Premier League World asks about injuries with a thorough response given by Wilder, then obviously when it comes to the Radio Sheffield slot of questions they are still going to ask about the same topic. Wilder will know all this.
