Sitting for 93 minutes in the home end with 10 other United fans I quickly learnt a few things
1. They sussed is out within 5 mins and knew we were blades.

2. thank God we don't play at a ground that's so isolated and shit as theirs

3. Stoke fans are actually a really good bunch. Very similar to us. Working class team with ambition but no big time Charlie attitude. Made some new friends today and their all genuinely happy we went up

Anyway up the Blades and hopefully we'll do well next year.

Still prefer Vale, to be honest, I never rated Stoke's support in the Championship, then they get promoted, and suddenly the media focus of their amazing support. Its a similar situation at Palace.

Strange how people see things differently.
I thought they were one of the better sets of supports when they came to BDTBL!

I'm talking through the 90's and early 2000's mate. They used to average 13,000-15,000 before they got promoted to the Prem under Pulis and I don't really their support was particularly vocal, just average. When they got promoted to the Prem the media seemed to big up their support exactly as they do with Palace still. I'm not saying that Palace and Stoke have poor support but it was never anything out of the ordinary noise or number wise from my memory. Burnley and Portsmouth are two clubs that I really respect support wise. I think there are only 70,000 people that live in Burnley and Nelson and they get 20,000 of them in their ground, which is a remarkable percentage of support.

Maybe it was just a one-off that I remember. Mind you, I was quite close to the Lane end at that time.
As I remember, they made loads of noise, even if most of it WAS that crappy Delilah song!
Leicester were the other ones that stood out to me, mind you, it was the year they went up (2014?)
Burnley and Pompey? Can't argue with that mate. Even though I hate Pompey fans for chasing me half way round Portsmouth back in the 80s!

I remember Stoke coming to the Lane in the early 80's and bringing thousands and were very vocal. Once in an FA Cup 3rd round tie when they had a Mick Doyle playing for them. Attendances across the board were poor in the 90's. Always thought Stoke travelled better than Leicester and while I was never at the old Brittania it was something of a citadel by all accounts.

There will be a lot of big London games next season that I want to attend but will have to get tickets in the home end ie Emirates. WHL, Olympic stadium. Is worth it though, do you enjoy it that way? I suppose if it's the only way to be there.
