Inernational Breaks

It gives us fair minded English types a chance to cheer on the Jocks and the Taffs in the play offs.

Oh......er.......

Also a chance to brush up on thread title splelnisg

Nah mate, it's great innit. Did you think I was talking about "InTernational" breaks? Never. This is a break for looking in at one's self, hence the term "Inernational". Basically for teams with no over priced foreign players and the best two Scottish midfielders who are overlooked.

Can't stand them but whilst international managers aren't picking our players it's probably advantageous for us when the likes of Wolves players are flying all round the world and picking up knocks and strains.

Portugal's not that far you know. Probably quicker to get there from Wolverhampton than it is to London!

That's certainly a compelling argument for HS2 but I'm happy that our lads can have a few days off whilst others are playing internationals. (as is Pochettino ;) )

So wouldn't that have been "Inner national" if we were looking in on ourselves?

Just saying like and I most certainly don't want to come over as some piss taking pedant who's noticed your error in the thread title.

Regardless of spelling mistakes etc. Internatonal breaks are a waste of time and a fucking liberty. Most true football fans don't give a fuck about England. Yes, I know Wales,Scotland etc. are important to some (and a few overseas players in the Championship), but there's absolutely no need to cancel the PL and Championship. The Africa Cup of Nations deprives teams like Chelsea of several players, but they don't call matches off.

Once again, the weather will be decent for the next few weeks, but they'll insist on playing games when the weather is bad. So tight is the schedule that Sky will insist that games are played on Friday nights, New Years Eve etc. yet we keep sacrificing perfectly good weekends for games that most don't give a shit about.

They aren't as bad when you have won the game previous as you have a fortnight to bask in the fond memories.

I care about England still, I want them to win stuff, unfortunately I find the current manager a joke and the current crop of players extremely limited.

How this doesn't make someone a true fan is beyond me.

However, what does make a mockery of these friendlies, is how we have, Kane, Winks, Sterling, Henderson, Delph etc all pulling out.

Kane aside, none of the others are anywhere near international level. Kind of shows what a fuck up we are at international level.

tbh the only one which suited us was after the forest game since we had players out injured

When I was a kid I followed England and wanted them to win. For the longest time, I haven’t given a monkeys about them, and for the most part am unaware they’re even playing. I’ve not yet swung over to the other side and started hoping they lose, but I’m sure it will happen one day if they continue to get in the way of the games of football I actually care about.

You could have said the same for the last (near) 30 years. England - much like our politics - is an 'old boys club' which - I maintain - most people are fed up with. Stop fucking about with the 'bread and butter'. I know what's going on. The useless blazers want to claim that they've 'given the England team every opportunity to succeed'. However, as you rightly point out in post #12, most of our decent players pull out 'injured'. They're under instructions from their clubs' managers/boards that the league is far more important than going out at the earliest opportunity in the WC or Euros to a 'proper' side. If the blazers were so intent on England success, why do they keep appointing a bunch of cunts, failures and 'Yes' men to the top job?

So imagine that if PL games carried on without England players? Club v country is bad now... imagine if Spurs had to play without Winks, Kane, Alli. They’d pull out a lot sooner (or be under pressure to) I’m sure!

I agree that they're shit, bit i actually think they help us.

They break the season down into smaller blocks of 5/6 games, which with our intense style of play gives us a breather before we go again.

I also think that because of Wilder and Knills attention to detail in setting us up, we tend to play better with more preparation time.

Of course now i really have to hope we win at Burton so i'm not proven wrong.

I think they should draw 24 countries out of a hat. That should be the World cup finals..........Fuck all this qualifying bollocks.
I have about as much affinity with England and international football as I have with picking up dog shit.

Am with Tomtheblade, I hate the break also, but its working in our favour. We are recharging the batteries, then going hell for leather again. So it might just help us keep up this standard for the season! And who knows where we would finish.

Playoff match - Peru Vs New Zealand - that might be an interesting couple of games, wonder if New Zealand might ask if they can play rugby instead?

Maybe a touch of sarcasm there?...but I will be following this game with interest...NZ have a full strength squad including striker's Chris Wood who plays for Burnley & Shane Smeltz from Borneo FC as well as Salford City's keeper Max Crocombe who got sent off last week for taking a piss during a game. They were also undefeated at South Africa 2010 WC.

Be better than watching an England vs Germany friendly...come on the all whites!

I can say that personally (being an NZer) I have little to no faith we will do much in that series. Hoping for awful weather here Saturday to level out what I suspect will be a large skill imbalance!

Or even more so when it's a stupid friendly. I dislike international football, end of ...

we dont need international breaks period

They were brought in so England could get together for a while longer to give that final lift to englands preperation to win something big

It has failed miserably to do that , if anything we are worse , losing to Iceland shows it had no effect whatsoever in engendering team spirit

lets go back to midweek games and getting together on a monday , its well long enough or should be for highly trained pros to adjust

It disrupts league programmes and in fact more get injured training away with their internatiomnal teams as they change training methods so has even more adverse effects

A little I guess

however totally better than watching England, I will be watching the games as hopefully will be a good one, however I think Peru will have too much for New Zealand, but its a game of football so you never know

would love for New Zealand to get to the world cup would be an amazing moment.

I think on Balance Peru will have too much for New Zealand, but you never know and that is the very essence of the romanticism of football, would be great to see New Zealand in the world cup.

England have a lot of injury worries apparently. I wonder how many of these injuries will have miraculously healed by the time the prem kicks off again ;)

Also England V Germany at this time of year? It's like asking for trouble
