We've had a look at Ben Osborn at LWB & he doesn't look adequate - he looks like a midfielder playing out of position.

We've also seen Kean Bryan & it's clear he isn't a Prem (or even Championship) level footballer.

So we bring in an experienced lad who probably won't mind being a squad option. As a minimum he's OK at the level below & knows how to play his position.

We were never likely to be bringing in first team upgrades in January. We look safe at the moment, but some injuries could cause an emergency. O'Connell & Stevens would cause us big problems. We're just covering our arses a bit.

Players are notoriously over priced in January because many buying clubs tend to be desperate.

For the first time in many years we have no desperation to pay over the odds for any player.
