Yesterday's performance would have led to a bumper five angry letters in the following week's Green Un by which stage events had been overtaken by that afternoon's match.
In later years there was also Praise And Grumble, so there would have been a handful of people able to vent their spleen on Radio Sheffield (with the exception of the mysterious Dr Hill, she was delighted with every performance no matter how awful we were).
Today, the net is still bulging after the opposition have scored and hundreds of us are able to go online and create fire and fury and create a 'crisis' at the club.
Much as I love this forum, there are days when I wish all we had was the Green Un letters page (and Dr Hill) to share our views!

I'm pretty relaxed about it.

That can only have been a blip because if it continues 9 players will be retiring after Reading having completely forgotten how to play football.

I was saying the same thing to someone recently. The interweb has a lot to answer for and is the vehicle to create a snowballing of opinions and emotions that spirals out of control gathering more and more momentum until the next game comes along. I am so glad when the next game comes around. Back in the old days it was a moan in the pub and then back home. You wouldn't really talk about the game again. Now we can look forward to several days of analysis and hysteria afterwards.
