O Connell and Fleck

Wouldn't bother with Kilgallon if we sign O Connell, he's left footed and Killa must be asking for a wedge at 32 and we're rightfully standing out ground. Have to go hell for leather with McFadz now and complete the defensive unit at long last (barring outgoings)
 
Looking at Knills face on the show when they mention Fleck, i would say its him.

O'Connell has to be. Left Sided Midfielder does that mean a left winger or a left sided CM. Most likely Fleck

Must be a good signing because the club he plays for finished (marginally) above us one season? That's very peculiar logic, Roy. You could bring in some real tossers using that guideline...

We have sold the club to him is what I was getting at as you can't say he's joining because we have a better chance of promotion than Coventry based on last season. I meant its a coup as we have (potentially) nicked a player from a direct rival

Coventry fans are very disappointed he's leaving, "fucking hell, great signing for you though" said one of my mates who watches the guy week-in, week-out. I think I'll put more weight in their comments on a players ability than your ability to use Wikipedia and choose what facts you want to suit your rather peculiar agenda Pinchy my dear.

Really? What's great about the little Flecker? Really, what? Please don't tell me he's Cov's player of the year. I know that. I believe Montgomery was ours once wasn't he? He was fucking rhubarb as well.

Well I think the difference was so marginal as to be irrelevant, wasn't it?

What concerns me more, mate, is what he's got to offer us. I can't share the prevailing enthusiasm. I can see nothing in his career to justify it. Seems like an older, Scottisher Louis Reed to me, and that ain't a compliment!

Possibly but why would he leave a club he's at to join one who were equally as bad last season? We know it's not because of money :)

I see your issue with how he is as a player. I do think he will be an upgrade on Reed but I don't think any of us believed a small midfielder was on the to buy list
 
I'm not sure what system Coventry played last season, but from what I have ever seen of Fleck, he's neat and tidy, not bad with the ball, but he isn't a combative defensive type and nor does he score many goals. He's also not a great athlete. My assumption from what I've seen is that he wouldn't be bad as part of a midfield 3, but we wouldn't get enough out of a Basham/Fleck partnership.

What silly comments. Are you suggesting his goal scoring record is better than I said? Or that he's taller?

You base your football opinions on Coventry fans? How very odd. I prefer the unassailable facts, the experience of following football for half a century and the evidence of my own eyes. Clearly I'm misguided and should ask the experts...
