I know let everybody start bouncing up and down,,,,,, er, hold on a minute though this may have already been tried. or we could get a cop band, eh ,
no no I think we may have to rely on the team actually playing exciting football, after all isn't that what were there. for...... 🤪

I'll get me coat.......

Please don't go down the Derby/Coventry etc. route of having some 15 year old with a drum stood at the back in a corner of the ground orchestrating a group of other 15 year olds to sing a medley of 1980s Depeche Mode hits over and over again. Or those tossers who stand in the bottom corner waving huge flags like at Palace. If it really came to that, I'd rather they were drowned out by 'The Archers' theme tune being played over the tannoy.

Anything but a bloody drummer, please

I'm on the back row of the Kop and I bang against the back of it every game as many others do (although as someone who dabbles in drumming, I like to think I have a bit more timing about it than most 😂).

I'm aware that the likelihood is that if I (or anyone else) tried to bring a drum onto the Kop, I'd likely end up wearing it as a dress before I got the chance to hit the bastard. I'm also not saying that I'd be a fan of a drum at the Lane as I'm uncertain about how successful it'd be.

But genuine question: what's the difference in people's minds between banging on the advertising boards/cladding and having a drum? They do the same thing, except one is designed for it and you don't have to bruise your hands to hit it...

It's our fans being fucking mardy arses that's the problem

Siddarn, shurrup

There seems to be a real togetherness about other fans, but ours are just tossers whenever anybody does anything other than just sit there.

I remember as a 16 year old being packed like a sardine in the Railway end at Rotherham

Every time somebody went in their pockets for a fag or something he'd start a crowd surge

A forty odd year old bloke in front of me turned around and said " You little bastard, push me again and I'll knock you the fuck out"

10 seconds later another surge and he swung around and lamped me

This caused an even bigger surge, but of course that was ok.

Hope the cunts dead Blade or not

Of course, those tossers who stand in the bottom corner at Palace, no longer stand in the bottom corner at Palace. The Holmesdale HF05 Fanatics, currently 17k on Twitter, were able to grow a critical mass of fans. And then exert influence on the club. They had a system where you could submit your season ticket details to the Fanatics & they would work with the club to move season tickets to a central block. They are currently in the process of organising a large block at Wembley for the FA Cup, with associated Tifo. The cringeworthy fuckers...

Don't go down the Coventry route, with a drum, go down the PSV at Leicester route, with (checks notes) a fucking drum...

I just think the OP is rude and disrespectful to be honest.....

I mean, they introduced Hendersons sausage rolls for god sake! What more do you want??

😆😆

RIP Blade……

Really? I sit in the middle of the kop - if you can't see what's wrong then you've forgotten (or just don't care) about what it used to be like.
Says thé guy who « sits » in the middle of the Kop. I stand at the back, à season ticket holder and been going for 57 years. Over to you.

Could try getting off your backside and joining us at the back

What would you like to see ? Tiller Girls, Vuvuzales , Clackers, à PiG type band ?

Oh, my hero! 😂

If you stand at the back amongst it you’ll get a false sense of the noise you make. It’s really crap.

I sit about 15 rows from the back and have had many a scrape because of people complaining about standing.

The atmosphere is generally non existant, it’s a simple as that. I’d just like to see more people make a noise. Believe me, I do.

I take my hat off to both the Holmesdale Fanatics and Forza Garibaldi (19k on Twitter). Neither have become established overnight or easily – it’s taken many years to build both up into the substantial groups they are today. And they’re having a positive influence at both clubs, in my view. Forza Garibaldi have for example become an influential fan group outright, moving a reluctant Forest into at least seriously considering safe standing as a future option.

Safe standing incidentally is one part of improving atmosphere, but it’s by no means a silver bullet. It can help to lay a foundation, but it still needs people to build something on it. There is a bit of a gap for this at United, and it would be great to see something emerge where a bunch of enthusiastic fans work to create a positive change to the atmosphere. This isn’t really a function for the existing supporters clubs, nor would I suspect they want to take that on – in both Palace and Forest’s cases they grew alongside what existed before. Rainbow Blades are the closest thing we have to that in terms of an open fans group trying to improve the fan culture (and are doing great work on that too), but again probably don’t see helping generating matchday atmosphere as their role.

It’s not a simple thing to start something new. But I’m sure in the two examples mentioned they wouldn’t have been initially welcomed by the whole of their fanbases – and probably aren’t still.

Atmosphere depends on the circumstances of the team, obviously. This season for us is very ‘whatever’ for me. The best atmosphere this season for me was Derby away (from them).

Improvements needed in match day atmosphere?

Before I start, I must state that there are many aspects of the manufactured match day atmosphere that I, and many fellow fans, find totally cringing. I am not advocating ‘happy clappers’ like at Leicester, half time cheerleaders, massive pyrotechnic fire disasters, or the club and the fans spending thousands of pounds in the pursuit of the American razzamatazz. But there must be ways in which Bramall Lane, especially for lunchtime kick offs, can be made to feel less humdrum and for us to capture some continental ‘joie de vive’ during our matchday experience.
Below is something to debate and discuss. I do hope the club will at least read the below and for a relatively little outlay can implement some of the ideas.

There was a questionnaire circulated by the club asking the views of the fans with regard to safe standing, what has happened to this? If it were to be implemented how? As seems likely the development of the Kop area is likely to be delayed or shelved so any developments are some way off but this could be implemented relativity quickly, but where and how?
In my view the most obvious place would be the John Street corner, currently linked to the family stand but could be adapted?? Even if it was not converted to safe standing, it could still be allocated and see the creation of a section to anyone who wanted to ‘sing’ – much the same as Celtic have done with the ‘Green Brigade’. A ’Shoreham Boys’ section if you will
This also allows a great deal of space for flags banners etc as at the moment the whole area is bland, drab, lifeless and dull.
Enough of the truly ambitious stuff. More mundane, what happened to the flags that were a part of the match day experience? Passed overhead etc they just disappeared?
Even more mundane, and apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, what has happened to the Flags that were part of the kop? The fan paid for ‘Billy Sharp’ flag – what has happened to that?
Look I am not saying this is all the fault of the club as the fan group at Forest ‘Forza Garibaldi’ have worked wonders at the City Ground and if a group of likeminded Blades could be as proactive then things might happen, but could not have done what they have without the support of the club? I doubt it.
Recent games against Barnsley, and QPR have shown that even with 26,000 Blades in the ground it can often feel very flat. We need the club to be a catalyst for the creation of a much better match day atmosphere at the ground. Is it time for the excellent social media team to expand its activities and engage in the creation of a better match day experience?

Longest post ever basically atmosphere needs improving Any ideas would do

I always like these threads and some great points already raised. I'll add a few:

Kop rebuild with indoor and spacious concourse. People will drink more pre match and have somewhere to stay out the cold before kick off.

Vocal section (never call it a singing section). Stops the pockets of songs and become louder, more infectious. Most people join in when it's already really loud.

Safe standing.

Many have raised it already and some have dismissed it but the away end being so far away is a big factor, it's part of English football culture. But this will never change at BL.

Leaving game early ??

Perhaps you could organise practise sessions somewhere, a bit like chœur singing. Wave your wand a bit. Get some clapping 👏 organised.

I think the atmosphere’s just fine around me. I can’t speak for where you’re “ sitting” mind.

Raa Raaa Raaa Go TEAM 😂

I was watching this game once, and a portal suddenly appeared on the halfway line. This woman wanted to recruit people for a future war. So, we could try that?

With the big speaker system we have why not crank up some ear drum popping crowd noises through them.

Just play a noisy crowd loop for all of the 90 mins

I’m sure that makes sense to you. 😂

for me the match day atmosphere could be better. of course im not saying its great at the moment. but i think thats down to lack of belief. at Blackburn we felt like we had some to fight for. but QPR atmosphere felt like a load of fans that were defeated. & not still right in the mix

but overall are we guilty looking back with rose tinted glasses. because there are reasons why they are special nights. Because they dont happen often. 70s seem great because we only see 10 min highlights of major games & we arent Napoli, Turkey or Argentina. although i rather have what we now than those bloody drums at Coventry & Derby. they should be paying fans near by 400 for having to tolerate that
