I don't think there was ever going to be a problem with him as far as the media was concerned, he's done plenty of TV, has always been articulate and thankfully, the media don't have it in for him (yet). He's been in the game long enough and worked under / with enough managers to know what to do and say. It's noticeable that he's already admitted mistakes and put aspects of defeats down to himself which the likes of Warnock and Blackwell rarely did.
The managerial side will of course take time and that's why fans will have to give him a bit of rope and not criticise decisions / substitutions 3 or 4 games into his career. It's clear that he has the respect of the players, has decent contacts in the game, and wants to play football the way we want to see it so everything's in place. The rest is down to him.
It will take time and we may have to write this season off and give him chance to build his own team but the acid test may come if we struggle this season and / or the fans lose patience.
