He seems to be conducting himself well with the press. He could also have made a lot more of the Bartley incident but chose not to. After NW & KB it is nice not to have the mad rants and blame giving that we experienced with those 2. I wonder how long it will take before the press start taking notice also with the change of style of play.

i agree, i think his appeal to others in the game and the dirty journo's is something that can help change our image. sadly though, the style of play wont be noticed until we maintain some form of a winning run and smash someone royally. it will come, give him time and a bit of cash in january.

Its a bit too soon for a full judgement but i'm also very impressed with the way he is handling himself.

Cmon Speedo become a Blades legend.

I saw this thread and wondered if any replies would appear in this thread. A positive thread, and two replies!

Here's one for ya. :)

I agree with copes. Speed himself has said he thinks we get the bad end of refereeing decisions due to our reputation. And he may be right. A little dignity on the touchline is nice to see.

I'm not unimpressed, but i'll hang fire for a few weeks yet. Seems to be doing alright though

I'm with Copenhagen on this one.

He is gaining credibility for himself as a manager, and for the club as a whole.

Provided he avoids relegation this season, he'll do for me.

He's only starting out and its a learning process for him too. He'll make mistakes and learn by them. I had serious reservations about him before his appointment, but he's particularly articulate and intelligent.

He's got an extremely tough job and he's knuckling down and getting on with it.

I don't think there was ever going to be a problem with him as far as the media was concerned, he's done plenty of TV, has always been articulate and thankfully, the media don't have it in for him (yet). He's been in the game long enough and worked under / with enough managers to know what to do and say. It's noticeable that he's already admitted mistakes and put aspects of defeats down to himself which the likes of Warnock and Blackwell rarely did.

The managerial side will of course take time and that's why fans will have to give him a bit of rope and not criticise decisions / substitutions 3 or 4 games into his career. It's clear that he has the respect of the players, has decent contacts in the game, and wants to play football the way we want to see it so everything's in place. The rest is down to him.

It will take time and we may have to write this season off and give him chance to build his own team but the acid test may come if we struggle this season and / or the fans lose patience.
