I'm quite thrilled it's Hecky.

Chelsea could do worse than look at Hecky ...he wins games and can assess players to fit into rolls. He blinds Lampard as a coach as he gets the best out of what he has to work with. We are very lucky to have him

Yep employ a labourer as an electrician I’m sure that went well

Paul Heckingbottom can fuck right off.

4 or 5 year contract too. Cant say I'm happy about this to be honest.

Contract till 2026 ,but wasn't good enough for the job in the summer, that's just crazy.

Heckingbottom has a 27% win rate, Slav is at 36%. He is behind Slav by quite a way.

Another reason will have been money.
We have little or no money, although we may have spent some on parting of the ways with SJ and not had any costs with Heck coming in.
Underwhelmed and very disappointed that SJ has gone.
No idea what is going on at the club, 'though no doubt others might and many will certainly be happy to put their views forward.
I don't see this as a particularly positive move.

I guess it came down to money to get his 2 wingers and a midfielder in Boss said no transfers away goes Slav.
Hecky will take it on gladly to get a job that is probably the season finished hopefully we don't get relegated.
Hecky wasn't good enough in the summer but now he gets a 4 and a half year deal, doesn't make any sense.

Cheap option (tick)
Wont complain about no money in January (tick)
Will agree to everything poundland prince wants - ie cut the cloth, keep money in club (tick)
Gone by March (?)

Absolute god knows how he’s got that long of a deal. I could understand it until the end of the season to prove himself

He's technically a youth coach who's had a promotion. How much does everyone think he's actually on??

I would hazard a guess that his 4.5 year contract is costing less than a season with slav would cost and by a considerable amount.

As others have stated, cheap option.

Agree with removing Slav

Heckingbottom offered 4 years
can hardly contain my indifference

I thought money was tight but this smacks of stocking up the half time snack bars from food banks
its as good a prospect as David Weir was

But his contract will state Sheffield United first team manager so they’ll have to pay him up. Wilder didn’t get that long of a deal on his second contract and he deserved it more than Hecko

I am not really bothered at the minute if it helps anybody or not TBH.

I, nopigfansintown, etc have been posting about the events that has transpired today since the summer, but it has shocked me today just what has happened and I cant personally stand the new manager if I am honest.

Everybody to their own opinion, as stated above I can't personally stand the muppet puppet and I won't be supporting the clown.

I think ”thrilled” would be pushing it a little.
Get to fuck. :)

There's still some on here that would disagree.
He’s earned the chance to have a crack if we end up as expected the poor (financially) whipping boys of the PL without a pot to pi$$ in.

If we get big bucks we shouldn’t make the same mistake we did with Wilder and give him the second best war chest to spunk up the wall cause he was way out of his depth.
In the wealthy scenario, make it worth HJSMc‘s to walk and put a team in place that have the experience not to have their trousers pulled down by the likes of Liverpool, Swansea et al.

Option 2 might not be a popular view but it’s what I’d do.

Get to fuck. :)
What a bizarre post. I absolutely stand by what I said. When he was employed as full time manager he deserved a contract until the end of the season or possibly a 18 month one to prove himself.

5 year contract was bizarre at the time especially after he’d had a poor time at Hibs & Leeds. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. So get to fuck 🙂

My guess, and it’s only a guess is they wouldn’t pay him anything like Wilder but agreed to pay his contract up (if sacked)to caretaker ont cheap. If it went pear shaped it would give him a reasonable payout

Get to fuck. :)
We talked about this at The Crab group session! Your homework was to write a sentence that contained less than 25% of expletives. I know you said your maths were f*****g sh**e (100% expletives) so I’ll just point out that, although improving “Get to f**k“ is 33.3333% recurring (Vern will cover decimals in the next one-to-one session).

On a positive note, yes Hecky did do a good job. But don’t give him big bucks to spend, he’ll end up as Wilders assistant at Reading.

Get to fucking fuck you fucker.
50% :)

I remember watching this at the time, and in particular Yusuf Giansiracusa saying, "I know nowt about football, but I know a good manger when I see one," and it turns out he was right.

(With apologies to Roygbiv) the View From the Comments is hilarious:

Absolutely shocking to see. Killing our club from the inside!

After watching this for 5 min I thought, they have no idea what they’re doing.

In all my years supporting this club, I have never seen such a pathetic and delusional press conference from a member of the Sheffield United staff like I have from Giansiracusa today. Utter and total detachment from top to bottom, I would‘ve had a modicum of respect for this board if they had come out and said they are too broke to facilitate Slav’s transfer plans, instead they try and patronise us with buzzwords and the term ‘strategy’, like they possibly have some sort of underlying plan. This club can only get to the next level once these crooks remove themselves from this club and preferably the game as a whole.

This speaks volumes when you have a chairman who says that HE ISN'T A FOOTBALL GUY !!! We are doomed

We've gone from on top of the world to bottom of the dump in less than 2 years, they should write a book on 'how to destroy a football club'.

How detached are these people from the fan base, the heart of this club!!! And to quote…. “They don’t care”

In other words he wants to do everything on the cheap , from manager to players , makes good financial sense , gets you promotion though no chance !

On the other hand...

Hahah people losing their minds over a title, and a guy being honest about his lack of knowledge. I am glad he said this it's amazing. If they are going to let Heckingbottom run the football club and step away, awesome.

Some are making much of his " I'm not a football guy" and they misunderstand that statement. A chairman of an energy company doesn't have to know how to drill a hole in the North Sea, he needs to know how to run a big company and hire appropriate experts. A football guy as chairman could be so obsessed with being seen on tv with a club scarf that he is blind to the needs of his club. There may be exceptions - Steve Parrish of Crystal Palace comes to mind

Get to fuck. :)

Not sure why I'm in there, at no point did I slag off hecky but merely pointed out he was the cheap option for the board. Taken out of context in that I was stating that his contract would be cheap so wouldn't cost that much if we had to sack him before his 4.5 year contract was up.

Don't see what was inaccurate about that?

Don't see anywhere in there where I've slagged the appointment off.

Anyway point being....get to fuck 😉

The deal he signed as manager of the first team had to mirror the time remaining on his contract with the U23's at the time, I can remember it being reported in the press at the time he was appointed. It's HR law from what was said at that time.

Which is fine & understandable. At the time I sent the post I had no idea of that (nor did I until you've just said) so on the face of it without knowing it seemed strange to give him a 5 year deal.
