I hope he's a bit braver with his team selection than last season. We have a great crop of under 23s that should be pushing some of the current squad out. He knows them better than anyone.

If he can get some passion and pride back into the players and some excitement on the pitch I'll be happy.

Personally I think he will be cheap and the reason for the long contract is three fold:

1. To replace the security he's lost by no longer being u23s manager

2. To show the players that he'll be there longer than they will, so they need to get their fingers out and short term sulking isn't an option

3. To reinforce the idea of the long term Strategic Plan that the Chairman was droning on about

I was happy with Slav, but it didn't seem to be working, so perhaps the Board have shown some decisiveness for once. Something plenty on here have accused them of not being.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

He's our Manager now, so I'll be supporting him as I want the team to do well.

That did shock me. To be honest, Slavball was very cautious and unadventurous.
Tuesday night Slav did look pissed off and unhappy the way the players weren't doing what he was asking of them.
Maybe the new set up can get the best out of the 20 mill men?.

On three or four occasions there were close-ups of Slav trying to attract the attention of one player another and it seemed to me as if none of them responded. Maybe the players are still devastated at losing CWAK and never genuinely took to Slav and his new team. They know and, I'm sure, have total respect for Heck and maybe they'll respond. At least they'll understand everything Heck says. I think we'll see some young 'uns getting game-time - it'll keep t'owd 'uns on their toes

Surely that is the point?
We want success, we want to get back to the Premier League to be in a better financial position which will allow us to allow us to compete, build a stronger team, etc.
I do not see how that is going to happen following on from getting rid of SJ and creating this new blueprint for the club.
It seems a backward step.

But your point still stands, and Hecky came in at the worst possible time.

This timing isn't ideal but its a much easier division, we aren't rock bottom and there's half the season to go!
