I'm pretty sure that Tufty isn't sure...

...of his first choice back 3 and/or his first choice front two.

He needs to make a decision and stick with it.

Rotating is fine when there is an explicit need, but it seems the more he tinkers the worse we get. Sharp for Donaldson just made no sense today...

I kinda saw where he was coming from with the Sharp for Donaldson switch - i reckon he had Derby in mind, and a fresher Donaldson would be better for us on the counter away from home. We all saw how it turned out though - Sharp got no service from our midfield, and no change from the Bolton defence.

For Sharp to play well he needs to get service from out wide. Playing him and not Baldock was not going to end well.

He was worried that Donaldson hadn't played regular and would pick up am injury if he started , myself I would have just started him , but what ever Chris says is ok by me .

IMO we need to be quite active in the January window if we’re seriously planning a push for the top 6.

We need a pacy striker - Donaldson is OK, he’s quick but not lightning fast.

A replacement for Carruthers & adequate cover for Duffy - if Brooks is to be sold.

Cover for Lundstram and / or Fleck - if either get injured we’re in trouble.

A new left wing back - I’ve not been overly impressed with Stevens recently. Again he’s OK but if Lafferty isn’t going to get a chance he needs moving on & someone to come in and contend for Stevens spot.

At least 1 new centre half - CCV is a good athlete but is dodgy defensively. Our centre halves are so important to how we play & if they can bomb forward that’s fine, but if they’re regularly caught out of position at the back, then we find ourselves in trouble. This has been happening a lot recently.

We have the core of a very good team, but we’re also very light on numbers & need to make some improvements in personnel if we’re to make a serious attempt at finishing anywhere near the top 6. I’ve no doubt that we’re better than a good number of teams in this league and are not in danger of being anywhere near the bottom three, but I also think that with a couple of decent acquisitions we’ll be much better than mid table (which is where we’re going at the moment). That Coutts injury has hit us incredibly hard IMO.

No need to panick Chris knows what he’s doing demonstrated by promotion last season and our presence in top 6 this season.

He’s pretty sure about the middle bit though, I think?

Sharp is going to be 32 in just over a month...we all know what happens to the best of them at a certain age....just sayin'

It's almost as if we're in the middle of a busy period of games with a lot of key players who are around 30 years old or something.

Good post. We are so close to being serious promotion contenders but also so far away ! Biggest month ahead for the club that I've known.

Personally I'd just focus on signing midfielders and Strikers as I think the defence is pretty much sorted. Agree CCV is shaky but he is competent if not consistent

made plenty of sense. if you notice the thing the 2 players rested have in common is recently returning from muscle injuries. quite rightly not risked 3 full games in 5 days. but thats just my opinion. we all differ

Would make sense if he hadn't brought one of the 'rested' players on after 30 mins...

Plus, resting is fine so long as the understudy isn't significantly worse. In the case of RWB, we've seen it is...

True....you either blossom Clarke or flounder like Hammond....I fear Billy is falling into the latter category, at an alarming rate!
