Ikeme will miss the Forest game due to injury, according to the official site.

Couldn't blame Bunn if he was completely un-motivated. Let's hope he's a real pro.

Great forward thinking again, Kevin.

Whilst it was a bit harsh dropping Bunn after his pen save against posh. He's hardly been mr rock solid before then has he? if the staff thing ikeme is a better keeper then he should be 1st choice

Great forward thinking?

Yeah, I'm sure he could've known that the keeper that kept a clean sheet on Sat would get injured in the process.

Bunn has another chance. He needs to take it. I would definately blame him if he was demotivated. A pro should never, ever be demotivated, especially on the money they are paid.

How long have we known Paddy will miss the season?

Why haven't we got a settled keeper?

Why is Haber on the payroll?

Great forward thinking?
Because he knew what the outcome of Paddy's trial would be?
Because he knew that Bennet would break his thumb?
Because he knew Ikeme would get injured?

We knew that it was likely Paddy would be suspended before the season started.
We knew Bennet had a long-term injury a month ago.
We're paying Bunn's wages, even though Blackwell doesn't want to play him.
We've had Haber on the books for a year and half, yet he will probably never play a game for us.
We have so many loanees in the squad, that we couldn't name a substitute keeper on saturday, forcing the keeper we were relying on to play with an injury.

Like I said, great forward thinking, Kevin.

What I can never understand is why none of our managers for the past 20-odd years has thought fit to develop a goalkeeper from the juniors and reserves, to become the recognised no.2 keeper (at least). Possibly Paul Tomlinson was the last one (1982 - 87). Since then we've had a number of promising keepers coming through the ranks but we just seem to give them away before they've had time to mature.

It is said that keepers improve with age, so an inexperienced 18-year-old might be a risk in the first team, but we could send them on a year's loan to a non-league side to see how they cope.

Mate Duke is an obvious one who seems to have slipped through the net. I think we loaned him to Bury but then let him go to Burton Albion(?).

If anyone was listening Blackwell pointed out that if we want to keep the option of extending loans it was necessary to play both Ikeme and Kallio. Davies loan is at the max, can't be extended. Bunn did train hard like the good pro he is and will surely do his best on Tuesday - it does not take away the fact he has been vunerable on long shots so expect Forest to test him from range quite often.

Ikeme is a better keeper than Bunn - good decision to pick him in my book. Keepers have to be prepared to battle for positions and be more patient than any other player. He will not sulk like you seem to suggest he might, perhaps that would be your reaction? he will play knowing that the only way his career will progress is by giving his best in every opportunity he has.

Actually, the terms of the agreement were that Ikeme had to play the first game, then afterwards, be judged for selection on his performance.

Shoddy.

Since Tom McAlister's debut in 1972, the only two keepers that came through the ranks before playing in our 1st team that I can think of are Steve Conroy and Paul Tomlinson

Tomlinson was the last home grown keeper to make a first team appearance, in the Autumn of 1986.

But we've hardly suffered from that. I think 3 of our youth team keepers have made more than a handful of league appearances at other clubs since then:

- Paul Heald
- Matt Dickins
- Matt Duke

All of them were only first team ready during the Kenny/Kelly/Tracey era, and none of them are better than those 3. We've also been able to get a number of more than capable reserves in as needed (the likes of Bennett and Gerrard, and of course we had Kelly and Tracey together for over 6 years)

This year, I suppose you can say that Duke is better than Bunn. That's the first time one of our former youth products would have been a better bet. But it's not like we let him go recently - he left some years ago when we didn't need him. And I don't think he's better than Kenny.

With the odd isolated exception (Baxter over Fettis) the goalkeeping situation has been managed excellently at the Lane for over 20 years.

That is until Blackwell (an ex goalkeeper) comes along.

Thing is that at the start of the season, when we knew Paddy was not going to win his case, there was a class keeper, proven at Premiership and Championship level who couldn't get a sniff at Man City after they signed Given and Taylor, crying out for first team football.

Because we dragged our feet,he took Eriksson's shilling and signed for Notts County for 5 yrs.Now they may be in a play off spot, but he's playing in League 2 against shit like Grimsby and Darlington.

Admit to yourself, you would have preferred Kasper Schmiechel on a permanent deal to Bunn and Ikeme on loan deals, wouldn't ya?

another one.. there is a racket going on.. these has been pro's come here.. get straight in the side.. sign up for three months and then get 'injured' and spend the rest of the time of their loan spell in the treatment room

My oh my!

I'm getting bored of this place

Because people jump in threads with nothing posts?

Have you read my other posts in the thread? I suppose you can answer my questions without using the words 'Blackwell' and 'Clown'?

Well he must be fit now as he went to QPR on loan yesterday.
