If Weir had more prior experience, or if we had a different, more experienced manager in charge who was providing the current results and performances, would people still be saying we should give him more time to learn the job? I really don't see why a lack of past experience is any kind of excuse for the shit we are being subjected to at the moment.

We need results. If somebody wants to practice being a manager before they get good at it, let them do it somewhere else please.

I have recently started a new job. As with most jobs, my initial 6 months is classed as a trial period. If in that time I show I am incapable of doing the job, I'm out on my arse. Why should a football manager be any different?

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Main difference being that a football manager will get the remainder of his 3 year contract being paid up even thouhg he was no good in that time.

6 months takes us to mid-December.

As for practice being a manager, well, you're totally wrong to say that in my opinion. He hasn't lied on his CV to get the job, he's gone through the process and he's got the job. So yes, he's practising and learning all the time, this was known at the time by the Board, and when announced, by fans too who for the most part welcomed him with open arms.

There's no dishonour in any of it, at all.

I never said there was any dishonour in it and I never implied he lied on his CV. What I am saying is that although this might be practice for him, it is our season he is fudging up whilst he's doing it. He has yet to show that he has learned anything from his time with us. If there were any signs of improvement, we wouldn't be having this discussion, because people would be more patient. There has not been any improvement in results or performances, despite the signings of two very good players for this level. Speaking of which, was it even Weir that signed them or was it the transfer man?

I think the board's decision to take a risk on an untried manager was foolish. I don't think Weir was foolish for taking the job. It was fairly low risk for him. He does well, he's a hero, he does badly, he loses his job and gets paid for three years. The latter situation appears to be coming to fruition.

The decision to change a manager should be done with the aim of improving the situation. Since we sacked Wilson, our situation has worsened beyond belief.

Well the foolish thing is giving 3 year deals out like confetti. Many a shite player has benefitted from this policy in recent years. And we wonder why we're skint?

But not a suitable manager for the Blades.

And as Mike Bassett said after reciting that poem:

"England will play 4 4 F****** 2!!!"

If only we would as well. I went yesterday and we looked much better when Taylor, Bunn and McFadzean came on and we almost went to a 3 upfront. We have the quality, we just need them to play in the right system.
