apologies but ..... ;)

Hopefully we'll sell loads more when the new manager is announced and that will be a crucial announcement for many reasons, not least ST sales

We've already sold 12,000 ST's which is ~60% of our average attendance - how many more are we going to get?

Didn't we sell 14k last season?

Nigel Clough last November said:
"Having already more than 13,000 season ticket holders is already an amazing feat

Near enough, but short of appointing Ancelotti I don't think whoever we get is going to create a sudden surge of sales, anyone renewing probably already did so at the cheaper prices

I've read posts whereby people have said they, and friends, decided not to renew as NC was still at the club.

I know that doesn't mean that many necessarily but considering how we did last season, there is a lot of goodwill towards the club and I do feel that a good choice of manager could add 3k+ to the ST figure to ramp it up to 15k+

A 2k drop in season ticket sales will have been a factor in deciding what action to take, I'd imagine. That's not an insignificant drop and if we were doing well and just missed out through ill fortune I think that figure would have been higher. The fact it isn't is indicative of the trust people had of any change next season

Well I did renew, but told my hubby and son I won't be going. Totally had it with the club, fan's and board. League 1 for a lot longer I fear. Some fan's wanted rid of Wilson, the board got rid, fan's didn't want weir, the board got rid, some fans wanted rid of Clough the board got rid. We are no further forward by changing managers. League 2 beckons at this rate. It's time the board made a decision without listening to the fans, but i don't believe they know how to

Silent maybe can check this out!!(just to give another slant on things)when we blew promotion at easter the year before we had that magical season (1970-1971) .defeat at blackpool over easter meant it was season over and our attendance at the following home game was one of the lowest in our history(modern)to that point.
The fans voted with there feet and stayed away but the following season we had some fantastic crowds on the back of a memorable season ,which shows how fickle football fans can be. The right appointment with a succesful team and this season will soon be dispatched to history.
Im surprised and dismayed with nigels sacking but we look to a new start with a new coaching team and im as usual behind whoever gets the job
COME ON YOU BLADES

Hang on, there was a poll on here where more than 2/3rds of the fans were fine with giving Clough another season, similar results over on Bladesmad apparently too.

The board haven't acted on the will of the majority of fans, they came to their own decision.

It is not the fans fault we're languishing in the 3rd tier for a 5th season..

It would be a damned fool of a business that didn't listen to its customers.

Disagree with that, this time I don't think fan pressure has had any influence.

This time it shows that HRH is serious about his investments and ambition, every cloud has a red and white lining?

Yes, I remember the 4 successive defeats in March 1970 which had cost us promotion and allowing Blackpool to get the 2nd promotion spot (Huddersfield finished as champions). I was into my third month of following the Blades and was feeling excited at the prospect of us playing in the 1st division for the 1970-71 season. Prior to the 4 game run of defeats we played at home to Carlisle on Friday 13th March (I missed the match cos I was ill with flu and the game was played on friday because of the FA Cup semi final at S6 between L**ds and Man U in the next day). We won with a Woody goal and the attendance was 22,000 plus. after that we lost 1-0 at Middlesbrough, lost 2-1 at Leicester (my first away match), lost 1-0 at home to Bolton (attendance 18,500 plus) and on Easter Monday we lost 1-0 at Blackpool (I think John Craven scored in the last 15 mins. I was at S6 that day watching Wendy play Spurs and when the scoreboard at the bottom of the North Stand indicated that we lost 1-0 at Blackpool (our score was usually updated every 15 minutes) and I remember looking how gutted my dad looked when he saw the score at the bottom of the North Stand. In the next day we played at home to Millwall (won 3-1) which was my 8th birthday and the attendance was only 11,500 plus. we played 3 more games (won 1-0 at Bristol City, lost 1-0 at relegated Villa and won 5-1 at home to Oxford and the attendance was only 10,500 plus).

I just hope that Jim and Sel hadnt bowed to the pressure of the noisy minority. If they did then what is the point of SUFC having a manager!

There has been no fan pressure, season tickets are holding up, there wasn't any songs about outing the manager or telling the board they were clueless and no car park demonstrations.

So a few hundred have had a good moan on a couple of forums and the team got booed off a few times, hardly the earth shattering desire for change?

Jim and Sel have been talking to a lot of irate Blades fans on twitter and Jim has Facebook and made friends with hundreds of Blades fans. I am on Facebook and I wouldnt send a Facebook friendship request to Jim because I do not think it is ok for fans to tell him on how we should pick the team and tactics etc.

There is no way on earth that the board took the decision to get rid of Clough due to us, no way.

I remember going to Blackpool for that Easter game. I went the previous season and I think that was over the Easter weekend as well. Think we drew 1-1. At that 1970 game I had dodgy burger from one of those vans. I was sick for days after - never trusted them burger vans since.

Strange our attendances suffered due to failing to get promotion but I am sure that Villa who as you say had just been relegated got an incredible attendance for that game against us.

I recall the first two of those seasons in division 2 (1968/69 & 1969/70) starting off brilliantly. Beat Villa and Middlesborough respectively. But both seasons fizzled out. The third season (1970/71) we started more cautiously and then really kicked on from end of January onwards. Strange but since then I've always been quite happy with a cautious start to a season.

I realize times have changed but those 3 seasons in the old division 2 saw a club take its time in getting it right. Apart from a strange flirtation with Arthur Rowley everything remained the same.

And for the next 5 seasons from 1970 I don't think we did too badly.
