This isn’t meant to be one of those ‘knobhead’ posts to put the other player down. Both are fantastic. But if you have to choose one then who are you bringing with us to the Premier League?

I'm choosing McAtee as we don't have similar. Norwood & Doyle have different qualities but are at least similar in some respects.

I think mcatee would flourish in a team that has lots of possession which we probably wont be for the vast majority of the games, whereas Doyle is very good without the ball and can tackle, when he does get the ball hes not like a Montgomery and just get shut of it he gets his head up and finds a pass and its these qualities that will be vital to us next season

Saved me a post 👍

Nice to have the choice, like I suspect everyone, I would buy Doyle who might be available and loan McAtee who I think would only be available on loan. My worry is that without a quick takeover we will miss out on both. If I was Burnley I would be after them for example.Doyle would probably be more important to us. McAtee could well end up a better player at a higher level but Doyle's qualities are more what we need.

Neither have convinced me that they can do a job in the top flight in all honesty. Both spent at least half the season being underwhelming or inconsistent (which is natural with young players). They both are finishing the season well but whose to say this isn't a purple patch?

Given that as things stand the only midfielder we'll have on our books next season is Berge, I think that area is the priority, so Doyle would be the one who knows how to play in our system and who we should prioritise. He can play the Norwood role, which is vital to us.

I think McAtee loses the ball far too much to have a starting place in any EPL team. Our midfielders will need to be good defensively in every game. Most of our opportunities will likely be on the counter, which is a plus for him, but I can't see us playing 2 advanced midfielders. You could maybe argue he could play off a striker instead, but assuming he's here next season Ndiaye will have that spot nailed down. He'd be a decent option off the bench as he can make things happen. I suspect City will prefer him to start games lower down.

Its a tough one because mcatee has a much higher celing than doyle but im not sure how effective he will be next seadon if playing for us
Think both have to step up a level if they want to play regularly at the top level

For the type of season we are likely to have, ie a solid shape with men behind the ball, it has to be Doyle. Looks like an upgrade for Norwood, (who has been brilliant for us but I fear is now too slow for the Premier League), who can dig in, has younger legs, make a tackle & see a pass. He also is more accurate with shots outside the box & takes better corners. If we can possibly buy him if the fee is reasonable, & loan McAtee again, it gives us more options than we currently have.

I do like Doyle but I think Mcatee is special and will only get better and better. Mcatee's quality has essentially got us over the line with crucial goals and assists

McAtee could very well be the better player of the two. Doyle probably the player more suited to United and their style especially in the PL. Ideally I'd take both.

Try to sign Doyle and loan McAtee.

I think McAtee would be ideal as a player to break from deep alongside/behind Ndayie

I doubt very much that City would entertain anything from Burnley, they signed up to 'That Letter' that City fans cite, where as we didn't.
It would be another great coup if we could, we (in my memory) have not signed a 'Dud' from them. Brown, Brooks, Vonk & Jagielka spring to mind for me, but there must be others..

Surely we look to Doyle as Norwoods replacement.
Archer from Villa would be a great shout if the Smoggies don't go up as Villa will be looking to upgrade to make the next step a la Newcastle.

At Wembley I chatted most of the pre match afternoon with various Citeh fans (not that they're ITK!).
They all indicated that Pep would not sell Macca as they see him as the 'potential' next David Silva. Therefore a loan renewal is likely to be in our and their best interest.
However they did say a fair offer for Tommy Doyle may see him sold, as they can't see him getting close to their 1st team in the Prem, for example Calvin Phillips struggles for a shirt.

The City fans I had beers with were class actually and very grateful to us for developing both their lads, giving credit to our club and coaching set up.
