Of course I'd be disappointed, but I will still be over the moon at what we have achieved.
To me its a win win situation. I know everyone is going to enjoy the day out and sing their hearts out whatever.
What Nigel has achieved in the second half of the season is a minor miracle.
If he had been manager from the beginning, and the form had been backdated we would have pissed promotion.
It all bodes well for next season.
Good luck for Sunday and COYRAWW.

My thoughts exactly mate , we've nowt to lose , just give it a go and try your best , and see what happens , now next season whole new ball game .
Promotion in my eyes next year .
OOH I've never felt more like swinging a pig .

Me as well.

Whatever happens im proud of the team & NC for what he has achieved in a short space of time.

...but I've packed me bags for Europe...

I'll be absolutely gutted if we lose. Even though we're a League One team I genuinely think this is the best chance we've had of winning the FA Cup since 1936.

Actually 93 was a better chance. We were a decent lower level PL team and lost in the semi to a Wednesday team who hadn't beaten us in 4 league games in two top tier seasons. Had we got to the final, we would have player Arsenal with whom we drew 1-1 twice that season (the equaliser in both games incidentally being a last minute one from the away team)

We'd only played them 3 times at that point. The 1-1 at the sty was a couple of weeks after Wembley.

I still think this is a better chance.

Well you're wrong :-)

Objectively, it's our worst chance, given the gap between the teams. Of our five semis since 1961, we have always been the lower ranked team, but the narrowness of the gap is in the following order:

1. 1993
2. 1961
3. 1998
4. 2003
5. 2014

I think sometimes a greater disparity between two teams in a cup tie can give the underdogs an extra edge because of the way they have to approach the game.

Wigan beat Man City in the final last year but if they had played say Southampton or Newcastle instead I think they would have been mullered.

I totally get where you're coming from Pete. I think this cup run has a different feel to the others. First two rounds we were in the midst of looking like a relegated team. Third round I thought 'good draw, no shame in losing at Villa'. Fourth round I thought 'good, draw, no shame in losing to Fulham' and we spent most of the match laughing at the ineptitude of Fulham's attacking, expecting to lose eventually and really not being bothered about it (similar to Tuesday actually!). Fifth and sixth rounds were great atmospheres and I suppose by then we fancied our chances, but there's never been any pressure to progress and each round has been a nice bonus alongside the league revival.

I think the more important thing is that this is such a bigger opportunity for Hull and the weight of expectation on their players will be absolutely huge. We're expected to lose, but they'll feel like they've truly messed up if we win. Their pressure and our relaxed attitude will go a little way to levelling the two division difference.

Indeed. On the way to Villa Park it was decided anything less than a 4-0 defeat would be a moral victory.
At half time, hanging on for a replay had entered the equation.
When they equalised with more than quarter of an hour to go a replay was looking hopeful at best.
Five minutes later the world had been turned on its fucking head and anything was possible! It's still on its fucking head!

This has been, for me, the best, most unexpected and exhillerating cup run I've seen in 50+ years. Whatever happens this week-end it will never be forgotten and I can't thank the players/staff/club enough for bringing us to this as a THIRD DIVISION team.

I've enjoyed it all the more as the "don't like the cup" numpty's have moaned and groaned that it's "going to see us relegated", right through to "going to cost us the play-offs" and all points inbetween, instead of enjoying it for what it is. Fucking brilliant, that's what it's been and it might just get even better than that.

A different ref might have awarded us a last minute (of normal time) penalty when Carlton Palmer handled the ball in the box and some of our players especially Hodges appealed. Ref Kelvin Morton probably saw it but decided that it was ball to hand

I remember that and thought at the time he had practically caught it. Watched the replay when we got back as a tipsy 16 year old and thought the same
