Most regulars on here seem to agree that a CB,CM and Forward are still needed.
And of course as a now progressive club it's hard to disagree.
But these 3 must be starters, and this means that some former favourites will hardly get a look in?
Duffy and Wright to name 2 . With Evans and Baldock fit I would of thought that they would of been on the bench yesterday. I know of course it's a long season , and we were lucky with injuries last season but I feel Wilder is not the greatest fan of rotation. Even if Brooks was ready to go now it seems difficult to slot him in.
So 3 new starters plus the 2 above ........
But I guess these are the problems a manager loves to have and one I will have to get used to, as my team is actually quite decent after so so many seasons of shite.

When does the window close?

It's a difficult thing to talk about after such a staunch performance. A bit of quality upfront would be preferable, but Leon did so well yesterday and Billy got the goal so it could come across as greedy!

Whatever positions we strengthen, they need the legs. Pace is what we need.

Billy, Leon and Lavery are all great options, but we need out and out pace and power up there. It could be Ched, but it's impossible to tell at this stage

HAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVEHAVE.............There, got it off my chest!

As for the post, not so sure whether they need to be starters. Wilder's MO seems to be if we're winning and you're performing you've got the shirt and any new recruits have to accept that. I can see a fairly urgent need for pace up front because I just don't see Evans coming back as he was. Also that box to box midfielder who can be the midfield enforcer would be good, but they would have to be exceptional or we would have to be desperate for them to just walk into the team.

Looks like Warnock made I good signing in that new big black forward Cardiff have drafted, looks class.

Why 3 new starters?

The beauty of our team is no-one is given a starting place. You have to prove your better in training with performances and attitudes then apply it to match situations.

These players will come in and have to battle into our team. I don't see a centre midfielder coming and kicking Coutts or Fleck out of the team but if they do they are damn good players.

We need 3 players to add competition.

Liked for the haves mate ;)

Difficult but a proven striker is a must for me. Of course, it's easy saying it, not so doing it

I think realistically we'd have to look abroad to get value for money, but of course that would hinder the 'proven' aspect.

I think there are only 2 guaranteed starters at the moment. Coutts and Fleck.

The engine room and two of the best in the league at moving the ball.

But we have good competition in most places, and that's a good thing for allowing things to be changed up to suit tactically and cover injuries. But if it were 3, I feel we are still light at centre half. While I remain to be convinced that Lavery has goals in him, and with Evans still working on fitness, Hanson only to be used as a specific tactical change we are at the moment light up front.

So rather than two more plus the centre half, I would love us to go all out on a striker. This Leonard lad looks like he might be staying there for now, so we could revisit him in January.

I think KM said that we aren't looking at the foreign market at the moment but looking to change that. So I don't see any foreign lads arriving any time soon. That's not including foreign players from English clubs I might add.

I don't think any of them are likely to be starters, unless we splash money on a striker (which I don't think is likely)

We need someone with bit in midfield, who could come on in a situation like yesterday and see the game out. An engine would be a plus as well
We need another CB. Not convinced that Wright would be a solution on a weekly basis if we get an injury. It's hard to see whoever comes in unseating any of the 3 currently playing there straight away.
We need some pace and power up front. Clarke was great yesterday, but I can't see him performing like that on a weekly basis.

As mentioned elsewhere, we need more pace, so I'd want 2 out of 3 to be quite nippy.

I would also expect at least one of them to be through the loan market.

I like to have a verb. Once you have "have" you have no need of a preposition. However, of all the propositions available, I would happily have "of". When writing, I have often made effective use of "of".

Everyone has to earn their place obviously, but any new signings have to be good enough to start, not be Thomas-type squad fillers with a bit of potential, or Lundstram types who are bog standard with no outstanding qualities.

Both of those are squad signings who could end up forcing their way into the side, but neither offer an immediate improvement on who already is in the team.

Last season the players we brought in after the season began were to replace players who weren't performing after the first few games and immediately go into the team. Moore and Lafferty were obvious improvements on the abysmal Long and Hussey. EEL added some strength to our ropey defence. Bringing in more squad fillers now is unnecessary.

Wow, amazing complete judgement on two signings there. I'd be interested to see the scouting dossier you've compiled and the video evidence backing it up. Bit of a shame you didn't share this with Mitchell and Wilder before we wasted our money on these two. I'm sure Wilder has said something about competition for places, rather than squad fillers or back-up players.

Yes
Every midfielder coming in should be someone capable of taking Flecks shirt off him
Every forward should be capable of taking Sharps shirt off him

I really cannot understand our fans when they talk about another right back to cover for Freeman, another striker to cover for Billy
Every player signed should be an improvement or potential improvement on what we already have

It not only improves the squad, it would make our existing first teamers better players as well

Lundstram is a player Wilder knows who can do a job in midfield, he's not likely to push Coutts and Duffy for a place unless they seriously dip in form. Thomas is a wide player who offers the chance to change formation if we ever use 4-4-2 and has potential to develop further, but as he's come from the bottom of League 2 isn't likely to make an immediate impact. They both may end up providing competition for places, but neither is an obvious Championship starter. Also those two players are already here, if we bring in more like this thread is suggesting, they should be offering something better, not just more of the same or untested from lower divisions.

I'd say something different, rather than better. I agree Lundstram is in to compete with Fleck/ Coutts, if we get more for midfield then surely somebody different to those three. Those like yourself wanting tried and tested Championship players are going to be disappointed, we aren't in that market. Up and coming potential, or PL loans will be the targets.
