Just thought I'd start another Diego thread ahead of the game today...been awhile...

Given our new found emphasis on youth for the upcoming season, will Wilder be the one to finally give this lad the break he obviously feels he deserves?

Hopefully he starts today and makes his case in front of the new boss.

UTB!

Well, he'll at least know what Diego can do as we loaned him out to him. Just had a look at the stats and 6 games 0 goals!

Two managers since Wilson didn't rate him. And despite a prolonged spell rattling in goals for the U21s, no other club have wanted him on loan.

My finely honed spidey senses tell me he's not worth the bother.

A lot of the youth players that have been released haven't had a proper chance to prove themselves in League 1 ie. Kennedy, Khan, Dimiao etc. despite last season being the perfect opportunity due to the fact it was a write off after about 10 games.

Diego has been awesome at every age group but still hasn't been given a proper chance despite being extremely talented and actually WANTING to play and prove himself. No one can doubt the fact he'll give 110% if he was in the first team as he had a lot if hype and talent to live up to. Who would you prefer- Coutts, Flynn and Woolford who drift through games showing no passion or care for the cause, or Diego, the young, hungry talent who just wants to play and score goals??

He's been given a chance by several managers and he himself has not done enough to take those numerous chances.

The only person to blame is him.

Diego is no longer 'youth' he's been here that long now he's in line to be the next manager!

He might have the talent, but does he have the attitude?
Seems like he only wants to play in his favoured position.

True Pete . If Diego doesn't make it under Wilder then he never will . It could unfortunately be the Northern Premier League for him or Heanor Town , Alfreton Town or equal . Been given enough chances but never grasped the nettle . Hope he does make it , but fans , him , club have been there , done it and got the tee shirt on this young fella who ain't a kid anymore.

I agree, there would be nothing better than home grown lads leading us to promotion.

It's down to him, but then it always has been.

I've never understood the issue with this- if he's only played in one or two positions over the last 13 years, then why play him anywhere else?! We've spent years accommodating players in the wrong position which makes no sense.. surely playing players in positions they know inside out is the sensible option?

Heard he's been playing in 5 a side leagues in Chesterfield and turning up in his Range Rover. What if some idiotic pig fan whacked him on his ankle and put him out for 6 months. Surely shouldn't be doing that?
