If Speed was the answer

Speeds done nothing significantly wrong in my opinion. Yes he could've approached a couple of games a bit differently, yesterday being a prime example.

But to recognise he's working with absolute dross gives him a big get out of jail card. It's apparent he's tried to get them to play football (first few games) and has quickly noticed that the players are so shite that he's had to revert back to Blackwell-esque performances to at least try and get some points on the board.

This is not the fault of the manager. How on earth can he be judged when he's working with duds. He has to be allowed to bring his own men in.

There were striking resemblances from a typical Blackwell performance to that we've seen in the past two away games. We're never going to be able to play the way Speed wants us too while we've still got the likes of Quinn, Cresswell, Monty, Ertl et al running the show. It's simply not possible. These players couldn't pass water never mind a frickin football.

As I said when Speed was appointed, I'm more than happy to give him as long as he needs to get his own team in. Trouble is that McCabe might not let him do that until it's too late.

When Speedo was appointed I said there would be a thread wanting him out before the end of October. Seems I was right.

Bad performance and a poor defeat yesterday, but the facts are the facts.

- The squad's confidence in themselves and each other is shot.
- There are too many who aren't well suited to playing the new style, yet we dont seem to be able or willing to go back to the old style.
- There's no proper money to bring in new players, and as the Chirman and CEO aren't up for a gamble on a couple of £15k a week PL benchwarmers, what we have is what we have until January and possibly right through to the summer
- There is no multi-billionaire ready to ride to our aid.
- The Footballing Gods and their hoards of magical football pixies can't help us either.

Hard though it may be, our only choice is to be patient, stay positive and hope for the best...

PS. As supporters, I'm afraid it is out of our hands. Its a nice Autumn day. Get out with the family and enjoy a bit of the sunshine instead of dicking about expressing your frustrations on here. Really. It could be worse. We could support Wednesday... :)

Speed was my choice for the job. However, his latest statement that he is worried by uniteds current tendencies has got me worried in turn. How he can say that we turned in a better shift in the second half is beyond me. Does he really believe that we were the better side in the second half? The only difference is that we managed not to concede any further goals. Reading between the lines his assessment that he has a team of 100% triers means they have no quality. He says in a previous interview that he is always looking for players.....stop looking and act Gary before we find ourselves in a relegation dogfight. Keeping Ellis was a monumental blunder...he is associated with the failure of the last couple of seasons. That inept, abysmal performance must go down as one of the worst I have seen in 50 years watching the Blades...we are talking about Donny FFS...and did we really believe that we could ever be on the receiving end of such results against sides like Hartlepool and Scunny ( with all due respect to them)
The main culprits are KB SE and KMc who have sold the family silver and brought in plastic knives and forks. Speedo is going to have to live with that and his story so far does not fill with confidence. I have to say that watching him in the stand yesterday he looked totally bemused....and with good reason. Not one player earnt his corn yesterday...no one could put his foot on the ball, make space or make a run and beat a player. As fans we have turned from aspiring candidates for a play off spot to mid table mediocrity and now, who can deny, that we are relegation fodder.

I love you too Raul, but I'm off out for a game of footy in the park with the boy. Teaching him the silky skills that this middle aged fat bloke still possesses.

Anyway, try to enjoy yourselves without me...I'll be back later to see if anyone self-combused...

Not attempting to excuse last night's efforts, but how many folk on here would have taken 3pts from Hull and Donny away inside a week? I'd have bitten the footballing Gods' hands off for that.

If we're serious about being patient and building something, then we need to judge over 6 month periods not single games. We're back in Warnock circa 1999 territory. So lets get our heads down, grit our teeth and get the feck on with it.

Spot on. 3 points from those 2 fixtures was more than I'd bargained for. If he's learned a little bit about having the bottle to attack from the off (please try 2 strikers at some point) then all is far from lost, even though it all seems so shit right now.
