Looking at the squad yesterday there were 3, possibly 4, players who could leave by the end of the transfer window. Of those who do you think we would need to go out and replace?

I think that we have adequate cover for Monty and Willo with Doyle and Macallister and possible Ertl when he is fit. I think we may need another winger if Quinn goes (could Tonne/Flynn play on the left?) The only other one in my eyes who could leave would be Cresswell - especially if he continues to score at 2 in every 3 games! If he goes then we definitely need another striker. The choice would be between a big ugly battering ram - eg Parkin? or a goal scorer e.g. ALF.

I agree that we could cover the losses of Monty and Willo, my only worry is lack of experience for those who would be coming in. Having said that, I'm a lot more comfortable after seeing McDonald yesterday, looks a class above for this division and could certainly help younger players with his calmness, even though he's relatively inexperienced himself. I think Squinny would be the biggest loss as the 'old' Squinny seems to be back under Wilson, not the version we saw too many times under Blackwell.

It wouldn't surprise me though if DW has one or two lined up that could slip in under the radar if or when we lose anyone.

my worry is the same as last year tbh, a quite light weight defence and a lack of on target shooting, granted the latter is better than last year but still pretty low.
the midfield is very well covered tho as stated quinn would, on current form be a big loss the others are of little consequence if we lose them.
if any of the above mentioned players do leave then wilson should beef up the defence, bring back kruk and maybe another CB.
other than that im pretty calm about the rest of the team.

Would still be happier with another CB although I guess Parrino is an option if he's fit and Lowton could fill in. We can't rely on Morgs and to a lesser extent Ertl coming back, maybe the powers that be think it's worth the risk.

The way Quinny has carried on from where he left off last season for me means he will be a big loss should some club snatch him.

I think we can live with Willo leaving and possibly Monty.

Preference for me out the door is the obvious one and that is Ched. He go anywhere until his case has come to a conclusion. If he is found innocent then we can move him on and perhaps receive a fee. Perhaps too late for the end of this month, but when the loan window opens, some club may take him on loan with a view to a permanent deal. If he is found guilty, then my guess is he will be sacked and therefore we save his salary, but no fee.

Do we play him until his court case is over is the big question with Ched. He should score plenty (sorry Ken) in this division under a manager like Wilson. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

On the defence, if everyone was fit, I'd be more than happy to leave it as it is. While maybe bringing in rb cover. Ertl and Taylor are plenty good enough for this league, but I gather the latter won't be back until November and dunno about Ertl but I assume he's some way off. Parrino will be a good addition for cover at CB and RB, and I suppose Koz will be fine for either full back position.

I'd not be distraught if we lost Monty and Willo as we'd still have good options for all positions. The same could be said of Quinn to a much lesser extent.

With likely signings and sales - and players back this side of Christmas.

GK - Simo / Long / Aksalu

RB - Lowton / Parrino / Koz / Ertl
LB - JFL / Koz / Taylor
CB - Collins / Harry / Ertl / Parrino / Kennedy

RW - NML / Flynn / Philliskirk
LW - NML / Flynn / Tonne / Porter
CM - McDonald / McAllister / Doyle / Harriot / Ertl

S - Cresswell / Slew / Boggy / Philliskirk / Porter / (Evans?)

And that's without a handful of youngsters such as Coneelly and Chappell. Few oval pegs in round holes admittedly, but there is fairly good cover all over the pitch. Personally, I reckon we'll say bye to Monty and Quinn, but no one will come in for Willo and Boggy.

Even though we have got off to a good start, i still think that United remain a work in progress, but i think the nucleus of the squad we have now will remain at the Lane for some time and we have got something there to build on.

I think Quinn would be quite a loss and I expect him to be gone by the end of August. He seems to have this division sussed and is getting his mojo back.
We could manage without Willo (question on attitude again) and Monts. If McDonald gets his head and body in gear he appears to be just what is required to add that missing guile. Our problems last year had a lot to do with how narrow we played and how slowly we countered so with NML and Flynn around I think we have a pair that can run full backs ragged for part of a game (start one and then replace with the other).

I am still concerned about the amount of chances the opposition is getting despite two clean sheets in the league.
In a division higher we would have been punished - so this part of the game still needs working on.
Lescinel seems to be a good signing and has the presence and energy to get up and down but Collins seems to be at his right level, too slow and too prone to mistakes for anythign abouve 3rd Div.

Good start but we know things will change - it's how we cope with that imminent change that will dictate what happens for the rest of the season. To date I have been quietly pleased with the way that DW has gone about his business. He appears to have clocked all the issues that we have seen for years and has lined up players that add to the squad to address the short falls. I feel that he is building for this season and creating a platform to make steady progress - with players that are within our price range and better than we have already - a little more quality as opposed the quantity we had before. Mixed with one loan for a player with genuine pace (NML) who appears, from his tweets, to be enjoying his time at BDTBL already. All good to see - but it's only 2 games into the league season.

As for Ched, sorry Houso but he is a feckin liability. I don't think he would be that good in Div 3 as he has never been a footballer - just a lad with a hammer that is more of a loose canon than a formidable weapon. If he had a brain then he might be dangerous - as it stand he is one of the worst value for money signings I can recall in 40 years of watching the Blades - that's even if we only paid £750k for him.
