Season 91/92 we finished 9th, that was something to build on and progress sadly we had mssrs Brealey and Woolhouse who barely had a tenner between them.

All the more amazing that Bassett kept us up for 4 years.
I think Woolhouse had plenty of tenners. Unfortunately most of them didn’t belong to him.

If only i had supported Sheff Wednesday

First one that came to mind for some reason.

Also, what if West Ham never signed Tevez.
To this day I do not know how he saved that. I was at OT that day and have seen it on numerous occasions since usually when introducing new friends to the blades. It has to be up there as one of if the not the best save I have ever seen against us in the 30 years I have been watching

If only -

little Louis Reed had put that chance away vs Tottenham we’d have been in a final.

Still a night remembered by Poch as the best atmosphere in football, and Ericksen’s amazing free kick!

UTB & FTP!

If only……our normal penalty taker John Matthew’s hadn’t bottled it in the last minute of the final match at home to Walsall in 1981.
So up stepped Don Givens who tried the casual side footer, they look good when the keeper dives the wrong way but the keeper guess right and made an easy save.

We were relegated to div 4 for the 1st time ever.
However in retrospect it was one of the best seasons in our post war history.
We really were the Man Utd of that division and took 3K to 5K to every away match.
This was at a time when gates were very low, for many away games there was as many Blades in the ground as there was home fans.
Wasn't our normal penalty taker Tony Kenworthy on the bench because Peters (the nob) didn't rate him?

Up there with the Banks v Brazil save.

Never did the same for England though did he the twat! (Remembers that goal where Ronaldinho caught him napping).

If only Rob Styles had sent off Chris Kirkland for handling outside the area at Anfield? Liverpool had used all their subs and we would have had a free kick with a red hot Michael Brown taking it.

If only Rob Styles hadn't given Liverpool a penalty for intent? We'd have stayed up two points clear of relegation.

If only Neil Warnock hadn't publicly criticised Rob Styles for not sending off Chris Kirkland for handling outside the area, then he might not have given Liverpool a penalty for intent against us.
Shouldn't this be in the conspiracy theory thread?

You have got a point though.

Brooks sending the keeper the wrong way only for him to get his foot to it against Sunderland.

Forest keeper getting his foot to it in the last minute when it seemed a certain goal.

This save absolutely does my head in every time I see it. It's nowhere near the save it's made out to be, with some even calling it the best save ever.

The 'what if' here is what if our 2 strikers hadn't each managed to do their best to avoid getting any sort of decent contact on the ball.

Seaman is literally standing up. It's the kind of save you make from a toddler playing with a sponge ball in the hallway.

I remember someone in the Guardian (probably either Rob Smythe or Daniel Harris) called it "the most overrated save in history" and I couldn't agree more.

First one that sprung to mind for me too. Brice Samba was on absolute fire that night.

Although Ndiaye really should have buried it and given him no chance of even getting his studs to it.

Intent to foul? Really I mean Really?
I was working at Morgs house about 3 years ago ( top bloke down to earth ) and we were talking about the incident, nobody & I mean nobody had ever heard of a pen been given on intent ?? It either is or isn’t .. the ref bias has & will always be there for the ‘established bigger clubs ‘ sadly

Pesch. didn't head it clean , it sort of hit his head and shoulder , otherwise would have gone straight in . The poor connection was what gave him the chance to recover and save it . Just another one in a bloody long line of.... If only. :) .
