that would mean a 3 point gap between 21st and 20th and a 4 point gap between us and safety. Even if they lose it's still three points (come on Cov, you know you can do it - never thought I'd ever utter those words!)

On paper not much but that is a fair old gap to catch up even though we have games in hand - which to be fair, have never been of any use to us in the past have they?

Squeaky bum time is just round the corner - or is it here already?

I would say we're even past squeeky bum time. At this moment in time, there is only one place this team is heading.

Its actually way beyond that and into deep in the shit time. Sorry but we were on a crash course for relegation the minute we showed Wilson the door without an able replacement. Some of us said it back then and feared we would be able to say I told you so. Its a sorry state of affairs but I fear we haven't bottomed out yet in spite of supposed game changing investment and platitudes from Jim Phipps.

The prince is starting to look like a bit of a pauper.

I agree about Wilson absolutely and I have been confident that Clough will keep us up. I think the prince has money but is driven by what Clough wants.

Wasn't one of Weir's problems that too much money was spent on filling the dressing room with unnecessary extra bodies without shipping out the dross/

My concern now is that we still seem to be trying to blend the new players in together whilst not having Doyle in the midfield (whatever people say about him, he was missed against Crewe, no doubt) and it's the probably the worst time it could be happening.

The games in hand are the only lifeline that I can see at the moment and my confidence in United capitalising on those is just a tad above rock-bottom

I think we're nailed on relegation until the board etc accept that we're in the shit, then we stand a chance of survival, but the apparent complacency is killing us.

Whoop. Can't wait to rejoice about a night at Fulham when we kick off next season at Morcombe :)
You left me a tap in, a smashed it home from a yard.

Miserable sod! No beaches in Fulham. You might be glad of a trip to morcombe in August.

Bollocks to looking at what everybody else is doing and hoping this and that happens. Dangerous place to be that is and can take the focus off the important stuff, which is that this bunch of shandy drinkers (other girlie drinks are available, apologies to SV ) need to grow a pair, get some grafting done and win some games. Nothing has changed from one point of view, the outcome of this season is still in their delicate, manicured hands!

Don't say that, you'll scare 'em! ;)

Large, the "the board accepting we are in deep shit" train has left Platform 1 and is heading for the darkened opening that is the tunnel to Div 4. The last chance to do summat about it went at 2300 on 31 Jan, and with precious little in loan options now, we are stuck with this collective of poor footballers to shepherd our way downwards. Imagine teams like Gillingham, Peterborough, Oldham, looking forward to playing us? It must be ACE. Thei fans must be saying "Who's next week?" "Sheff United ... fuck me they are in freefall ... three points deffo."

Like I keep saying, new signings = zero. Prince Abdullah = paper tiger. McCabe = running this club into the ground.

McCabe out.

Fact is there is plenty of time left but we have to start taking the chances for 3 points that come our way NOW. Bradford and the other games where we have let leads turn into draws are why we are where we are. Performance may generally be better but the net result is actually the same.

Ah, the net - that's what they're missing! :D ;)

Sobering when you consider our "games in hand" are Brentford at home and Peterborough away.
Might as well not have 2 games in hand. Looks even worse then doesn't it?

I've been wondering where that expression came from. Wikipedia credits Sir Alex, no less:

squeaky bum time
English
Etymology
From the sound made from squirming or moving forward and back in one's seat while watching an exciting sporting event. Attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson, famed Scottish football manager and former player.

Noun
squeaky bum time
  1. (informal, chiefly UK) An exciting part of a sporting event, particularly the final minutes of a close game or season.

Maybe Darren has an alternative version...?

Nah - the lubrication will sort the squeaks out! ;)

Apparently!

Can I ask do we play Peterborough away twice for some reason? My lad and I have already been to a midweek match at Peterborough this season, i'm sure it's a genuine mistake and you mean Colchester away, although Brentford and Peterborough are also games in hand.

I couldn't give a shit what Bristol City do tonight. Our destiny is and has always been in our own hands, and no, 'Mystic Megs' on here can change that! Although you get the impression there's a large amount who'd love to see us relegated to say, 'Told you so!!' ;)

Stevenage won tho but I cant be too upset after our performance tonight
