4/5 goals in his first 4/5 games how much pressure will Blackwell be under from the boo boys?

None, it's not relevant.

zero pressure....i think even the most deluded blades fans will agree Sharp need to go out on loan. If he scores goals, fair play. It will mean he comes back full of confidence, or his fee will go up. Either way United cant lost from this deal.

he's always gonna get more goals for a team like donny, simply because how we play compared to them

Exactly MAQ.

Donny play good passing football which should see Sharp start finding the net again.

just to add to my last post,

Sharp is the kind of player who sits in 6yd box. Thats his place. You put the ball in there and he'll put it away. Thats why he scored so many at Scunny.

We dont play that way, we very rarely do. To prove this point you only have to look at Sharp's third goal against QPR last season. Low ball to near post, to his feet, turn, shoot.......goal!!! Simple as that. most of our balls come in high and as such he was never gonna get many.

Shame it didnt work, and its not all dead, but good luck billy! :D

He's only on loan, if he goes and gets 20 goals then he proves a point to his doubters in the stand on in the dugout.

We can always bring him back, no harm no foul.

I'm pleasantly suprised at the positive response on here. The old BU site would have had a few replys that warned Blackie to to get ready for some sh1t.

At 3pm Bill was off to QPR for a fee - did not want to go. 4.55. He is at Donny on loan. He is happy and will score goals for them. He wants to come back...but not yet

yeah but thats the old BU site grumpy! You'll find most of us on here try to look at everything positively, even the pessimists are reasonable in their threads and responses. You'll not get anyone on here with "Lets start a protest, we've let our 4th choice striker who cant hit a barn door join our near neighbours".

In my foruming experience this is by far the best. its embarrasses BU, blades-mad and 606

I'm sure he'll score against us...if he can indeed play.

.....then my donny mates will be happy. adding more spice to the forthcoming fixture.

I still don't think he will cut it with Donny. I reckon he will get around 3 goals for them (if he doesn't start taking pens too)

i think he'll get 10-12 goals for donny, mainly down to the way they play.

There's a lot been said about this, particularly by Donny fans and whilst they do play it around better than most in this division, it's not as if their current strikers have been missing chance after chance. I'm sure they'll play him more to his strengths than we did but he still needs to improve his positional play and timing of runs in this division so it's certainly not a given for me that he'll bang plenty in.

Oh God. Fatty Samuels will be sharpening his pencil as we speak.

I'm fairly sure there are rules in place to stop a loanee playing against their parent club. It's to prevent the situation whereby someone could score a hat-trick of own goals to benefit the club that owns them.

CJX,Unstone,Bath...Blackwell quite clearly said on Football Heaven last night that as far as he was concerned Billy was free to play against us. He did however say the deal went through at 4.50pm and he wasn't party to the arrangements.

What I don't understand about Billy is it seems he's had the chance to go to the likes of QPR, Leeds etc on permanent deals but has turned them down. It seems like he really does want to play for us. Maybe he thinks he can outlast our current manager!!

Maybe he should play against us. I'm sure super blade Billy wouldn't want to score! ;) As others have mentioned this is a great bit of business for Billy and the club.

Erroneous - he can play unless United stipulate otherwise.

I'm sure Killa and Morgs would love having little Billy in their back pockets.

It's a good move for him. I think everyone wanted him to do well with being a blade and he probably put loads of pressure on himself to do well but for whatever reason it hasn't happened.

Donny play good football and do seem to create a few chances so I guess we'll see if Billy boy can cut it in this division or not.

I really don't understand this "Doncaster play it to feet so he'll score goals" nonsense. He'll still end up offside ten times a game, possibly more so if he's got to make well timed runs to latch onto Doncaster's oh so wonderful through balls. The rest of the match he'll be on his arse.

I hope he gets 50 for them, but I can't see it. He'll get a few, naturally, as he's their only striker capable of finding the net, much like James Beattie for us at the time.

i think billy will score goals for them ,i think he would have scored goals for us
just not enough to justify putting him in the team

i dont go in for the donny play football so billy will score goals testys either but i suppose time will tell

Doesn't matter who he plays for, if he doesnt understand the offside law he wont score many goals.

Good luck to him at Donny, unfortunately IMO it doesnt matter how many or how few goals he scores there he isn't good enough to fit in with our aspirations.

He struggles now let alone playing against Ferdinand, Terry etc etc.

I don't get it. Do they not play the offside rule in League 1?

Players play a lot deeper in League 1 from what I have seen.
Yeah, maybe :) but I still reckon he'll bag goals at Donny. I'm keen for him to do well at this level but I've given up hope of him doing it at BL as - and I maintain belief in this theory - we aren't going to be playing the type of football that suits his game anytime soon. Balls from the wings cutting back where he can't be offside as often will definitely help his game.

I think that's exactly it. Most of his goals for Scunthorpe came from wingers getting to the byline and pulling it back to him under which circumstance he looked shit hot, he's decent on the ball and can make space for himself to get a shot away even with someone up his arse so to speak. What he's not is a Jamie Ward play off the shoulder 50 yards out sort of player.

In all seriousness how many times have we played Sharp with out and out wingers who get to the byline and do this? Last year with Halford playing he hardly ever got to the byline, it was a deep cross or a cross field ball and Sharp more often than not was expected to come out of the box and start playing 50 yards from goal. It can't have been his choice to do that and to be honest I was a bit worried at Reading that Evans seemed to be doing that quite a lot. He often came far to deep and it's about time we got our strikers doing what they're there for and playing in the box getting shots away. How much time did players like Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler etc spend outside the box or running the channels?

Good luck Billy, it hasn't worked out yet but the road is long and hopefully after a decent loan spell you can come back and bang them in for us next year. If we don't see you again then I for one wouldn't blame him for it not working out.
