If all our players were sent on "Free Transfer" What league would they be signed in?

You're talking about Collins, aren't you?

Oh definitely, but I was more making a point of where players go next rather than where they ultimately end up. His demise was particularly rapid mind – can currently be found plying his trade in Thailand.

I find it interesting when people say we are Sh*t on a regular basis which I believe performances and league position completely justifies it, but I wonder what other teams and managers would think if our players were available on a free agent individually. Obviously wages and club finances dictate where a player goes but I wonder where abouts our squad from Saturday would end up if released today. I have wrote a league and the potential kind of club they would go to...but what do we think?

  • 25 Long Lower League 1/Upper League 2 1st Team or Championship team as a youth prospect seeing very little 1st team action (Shrewsbury Town)
  • 5 Brayford Lower Championship (Burton Albion next year(taking a wage cut to further career) or Fulham/MK Dons)
  • 34 Edgar MLS (Vancouver White socks Bench warmer)
  • 15 Collins The ex-footballer abyss (Harrogate town or similar)
  • 19 McEveley League 1 (Scunthorpe)
  • 8 Coutts League 1 (Swindown)
  • 6 Basham League 1 (Bury)
  • 33 Cuvelier League 1 (Rochdale)
  • 29 Adams League 1 or Championship Prospect (Huddersfield town development squad)
  • 14 Done upper League 1 (Walsall)
  • 10 Sharp upper League 1 lower championship (Charlton)
Substitutes
  • 1 Howard League 1 (2nd keeper) (Bury)
  • 7 Flynn League 1 (Rochdale)
  • 18 Sammon League 2 (Carlisle)
  • 21 Baptiste League 1 (pay per play rebuild fitness Port Vale)
  • 22 Reed League 1 (Barnsley sub for development)
  • 27 Calvert-Lewin League 2 top 6... (Bristol Rovers)
  • 36 Whiteman League 2 (unproven so Luton kind of team)
A team aspiring for promotion to the Championship should have players that would look comfortable in the league above so you don't have to buy a whole new squad... I think we have a mid table league 1 squad with a couple of players with the experience to play in the league above but all in all a team that can happily survive in League 1 without pushing for promotion...Thoughts?

GK (LONG) League 1 Swindon in need of decent keeper.
RB (BRAYFORD) Burton, with current form not Championship team would be interested
CB (EDGAR) Hard to release a player on loan.
CB (Collins) Bottom League 1 or Top League 2, Hartlepool or a team like AFC Wimbledon
LB (McEvely) League 1 could do a decent stop at a team like Peterborough
RM (Coutts) Wigan He's a good player, sometimes seems to good for even us.
CM (Basham) Bury would probably be perfect for him but maybe he would go back to Blackpool.
CM (Cuvelier) League 2 Portsmouth because they are trying to become Sheffield united ex 11
LM (DONE) Top League 1 Swindon, Gillingham or Coventry. Walsall I highly doubt.
ST (ADAMS) Premier League, Newcastle development player or maybe even Leicester, "But Ashton, there top of the league why would they sign him." because Leicester like players like him and lets be honest they ain't the best of the bunch.
ST (Sharp) Team like Bolton or a team getting promoted like Gillingham. Maybe even Rotherham or MK Dons

GK Howard (Crewe)
RM Flynn (Inverness or Falkirk) He's a weee scottish lad either this or Fleetwood.
ST Sammon again can't release a loan player same with Baptiste.
CM Reed Fullham or Rotherham development teams
ST DCR Scunthorpe or Northampton
CM Whiteman HAHAHAHAH he ain't signing for Luton or any League 2 team after being named on the bench 1, he's going to go non league and play for like Sutton United

Botoble,

Can imagine quite a few of those teams being insulted by being linked to some of them, especially Carlisle :D

But Brandy was picked up by Rotherham and soon binned off after.

A couple of years ago and I was on holiday in Cuba, and there was a young lad there with his girlfriend, he was thick as shit but knew a bit about football and had been a youth teamer at Walsall and he told me Brandy could be a top, top player but his attitude stank.

Don't even know where Brandy is at nowadays.

Now in thailand 1st div.

Btw i agree with most of the op.

A scandalous waste of resources isnt it.
Pathetic really.

He's playing in Thailand's division two.

The only time I met Darren in person we was when we played Notts County at home under Weir and we spoke about how good Brandy looked. Goes to show that we talk more shit when we agree than when we disagree.

If any of those wankers got a move up the leagues. They should pay their agents a damn sight more than the customary 10%.

Not good enough for Regional probably Nomads Sunday League anybody remember that
Played in the nomads over the years. Especially memorable away games included The barrel inn (who played near prince of Wales road), the elm tree, a side from kelvin flats and a team from Normanton who's left back had just been released from prison and who punched me at every corner throughout the game. Happy days.

Friendlies, division 6

Thank you for your opinion.

Do you think those players would be at better or worse clubs? Do you believe we are heading towards relegation, are are you not willing to build upon that answer?

I was always told at school to explain my answer...even if its wrong you can still get marks for it :)

Not aimed at you botoble but........

....is any body bothered where these muppets finish up?

Keep saying ... you can 'organise' and 'motivate' all you want. They will still have the same playing ability.

When you buy a Ford Fiesta 1.1 base model, no stereo, good runner. T&T, never been raced rallied or rolled, vgc, bargain £200 take it off me hands mate I'm dead next week etc ... it is still a fucking Ford Fiesta. It will still do 80mph downhill in a tailwind with your foot hard down and your gurning face up against the steering wheel. You'll still feel it as a Ford Fiesta over every bump and it will rattle like a bastard and rust on your drive within five weeks. It will still fail to start and give you a whacking MoT bill every fucking year (Cuvellier, I'm looking at you)

If you have sold your Mercedes SLK and spunked the majority on a new lawn and the residual on the Fiesta, and your life and expensive job is dependent on commmuting in that Fiesta, have a guess what Sir Alan would say about you as a businessman.

Hammond....National walking football premiership
heh. quality close.. but no cigar.. hammond.. national walking 'and pointing' football premiership.. like where harper went..
nearly all of these players you mentioned reflect where they 'actually' came from apart from billy and the beard (who happen to be our best players..).. coincidence??

post of the year.. bravo mate ;)

Looking back at original post to see where players ended up,

Wilder really has done a rebuilding job, forgotten how wank our squad was 18 months ago.

Got that Calvert-Lewin prediction pretty damn wrong.

And Coutts!!!

You're too harsh on yourself – I still think it's mostly an accurate prediction of where players would have ended up had they been released at that precise moment in time. Teams had the chance not long after to buy Coutts and Freeman – there were no offers for either, not one. It's really a testament to Wilder and Knill's fine work to show just how far these players have come.

Interesting to ask the same question at the end of this season as well, after seeing how well our supposed pub league cloggers do in la liga

Every single player in history had been unproven at some stage in their career, has had to take a step up and prove themselves.

There's been unfair criticism of the talent in our squad. That our players are unknowns who aren't championship players. Well sure, that's true right up until the point they actually are championship players (or above), as they are proving now.
