Greetings Blades,

Ian Ross turned out for our (Port Vale) reserves last night against Leicester City. (3-3 draw)
Vale are being tight lipped at the moment as to what's going on. No-one even knew he was at the club until he was announced in the line up.
Is he available as a loan player or could this be deemed maybe as a trial??

I would say it would be a loan, not entirely sure of his transfer availability but he's had a few loans over the last few seasons and done well.

I should imagine he'd be available for a loan.

Thanks, I was told by someone I know at the club about it on Monday morning that he was training with us, and that he would be playing a few reserve games.
Sure enough he lined up last night against Leicester.

Either way, we have no creativity in the centre of midfield so hopefully he can give us that and hopefully show some of the other clowns how to take a corner.

I have a link to it, but you'll have to wait till I've made 5 posts ;)

We have a few half decent strikers (for league one), not too bad a defence but the midfield is full of play breakers and no one with half a brain to put their foot on the ball and put it to good use.
We lost Sodje to your neighbours, if I'm honest I think they paid well over the odds for him but we won't complain about that :D

He ain't Efe, he's his brother.

We never stooped to singing that, thank god.

He works tremendously hard but he takes far too many chances to score. Misses the easy ones but scores the unexpected ones.
Not very often we need to visit a Sheffield United board, but just while I'm here I thought i'd mention Littlejohn who was a cracking player for us. Obviously at the twilight of his career but did exceptionally well.

How much did you end up getting for him?

Don't worry about the Owls, they like to waste money on strikers :D

Burton, Sodje, Jeffers, that lad from Wolves....

Obviously my Vale highlight of the little fella were his two goals against Wednesday. The one at Hillsborough was a particularly good one, as they gave him hell all game and then he cut inside left them for dead before cracking it in the top corner before whipping his shirt off and running behind the goal past all their stunned faces.
One way of winning an away game ;)

I think it was about £180k up front, another £50k in 6 months and a performance related one of another £50k.

I know it all works out about £300k.

Not bad business for a free from Darlington reserves who told us "You can have him, he's useless"

He's not useless, just a bit wanting in the natural ability department sometimes :D
