the manager we should have had years ago.

exactly the kinda guy mccabe wouldnt employ in a million years.
which makes him even more right for us.
just think where we would be if we'd got him in instead of any of the "managers" weve employed since wanock. :(

Agree that he's good at his job but how long would he have stayed with us?

How many jobs has the guy had and why?

Met the guy and he talks so much sense despite his media persona.

He's far too good for us!

to be fair he stayed at blackpool for 3 years, a club with pretty much no prospects whatsoever. if he had got us to the premier and kept us there, why would he leave? he's always had tough jobs with nobody clubs, cos the bigger clubs dont give him a chance. chairmen are scared crapless by him. he is a nutter at times, but he knows what he's doing on the pitch.

Having met the guy he is no nutter!

He is one serious guy.....nothing like he's shown on tv!

Also saw a docco on him and his family. He was struggling to manage stress at the time. Top bloke and knows his stuff which is why we would have never gone for him.

Even if we had him all it would take is an approach by another club for him and McCabe would say yes.

Hate to have to break it to you but we're a nobody club.

Am glad that Holloway is back in the Premiership. He gets on well with my mate who is still the GB Deaf football manager and one of my ambitions is to meet Ian (he is the Patron for GB Deaf football as his daughters are deaf). I saw my mate last Friday and yesterday (I was in London for the weekend) and we were hoping for Ian to be back on MOTD net season!

Holloway was on the scrap heap after a string of failures before Blackpool took a chance with him and the appointment was taken with as much enthusiasm by the fans as there would be here if Blackwell came back yet we know what happened.

Holloway and Palace were on a worse run of form than we were when Wilson got the push but we know what happened.

Holloway may have had his brief spell in the limelight as most managers do at some point in their career, next season will tell but I'm not overly convinced. Whilst he had Blackpool playing fantastic football, Palace were very much a 'stop the opposition playing first' team last season and whilst it's worked now, it won't keep them up as we know all too well.

Everton probably appointing Martinez , a manager with a 28% win ratio in the prem , seems the strangest to me, winning the fa cup probably sealed it but the hard facts of day to day prem success look a bit spartan

Achieving a 28% win ratio with the modest resources available at Wigan, with the much larger resources at his disposal at Goodison I assume they think he'll significantly improve that win ratio.

being a manager isnt purely down to results. if it was, alex ferguson would have got the sack in his first year at man utd.

holloway obviously has improved with age, it happens. some people learn from their mistakes, some dont. hes admitted he used to be a bit of a bellend. he sends his teams out tactically prepared, makes good substitutions and the players want to win for him. thats a bloody good starting point for any manager. who would really bust a gut to win for the likes of bryan robson or adrian heath? or even danny wilson? sure you dont want to lose, but its that extra bit. the "wanting to put your balls on the line" to win. he instills that out of his own knowledge, honesty and will to win.
